Youngsters Wrap Up Regular Season

Buttery Back
by Matthew Horton

The Rhinos Senior Academy travel to Huddersfield tomorrow afternoon in their final regular season game. The Minor Premiership is already technically in the bag, with a points difference advantage of over 200 only a big defeat can spoil things for the Rhinos.

We preview the game here.

Leeds will look to field a similar team to that which defeated Salford last week. Carl Ablett on loan at London will again be replaced by Chris Buttery. He excelled last week in the loose forward role. Ashley Gibson and Jordan Tansey continue their "battle" to be top try scorer (Gibson leads by three at the moment). The Rhinos bench will be dependent on who pulls through for the 18's tonight. James Endersby, who took a knock to the head last week, is unlikey to feature.

My Predicted team for the game is: 1. Iain Gordon; 2. Danny Williams, 3. Francis Cummins, 4. Ashley Gibson, 5. Matt Gardner; 6. Jordan Tansey, 7. John Gallagher; 8. Luke Burgess, 9. Jamie I'Anson, 10. Luke Stenchion, 11. Jason Hart, 12. Jason Golden (c), 13. Chris Buttery; Subs: Michael Haley plus three from tonights Under 18 game.

Huddersfield were absolutely woeful when they visited Headingley earlier in the season and were 58-0 down at the break before the Rhinos took their foot off the gas top run out comfortable 80-0 winners. Keep an eye out for the George brothers, Luke and Simon and Bolugai Fagborun, a try scorer in the Super League clash between the clubs at Headingley this season.

The game is at Huddersfield YMCA and kicks off at 2.30pm. Directions to the ground are here...
