After all the fun of the magic weekend we return to the bog standard home & away format as Superleague hits round 17 with the League Leaders are now only one point clear and with only one point separating eighth & ninth it’s all very much to play for.
Here are this weeks previews.
VIKINGS v. FC
Both teams were big winners in their respective games so will be very confident and only 1 point separates them.
For the Vikings a win would see them rise as high as 5th whereas an FC win will see them jump into the 8.
It should be a tough entertaining game and could go either way but I think FC will hold the edge defensively.
It’s a good fixture to ko the round but I’m going for an away win.

SAINTS v. DEVILS
The defending champs did well to grind out a tough win v the Wire in Newcastle and move within a point of top spot.
For the Devils their fate was sealed as soon as Darrell Griffin saw Red and the fall-out from that game is more bans.
With a few injuries it would be a good time for the hosts to rest one or two which they can afford to do this week.
The devils may make a game of it for an hour or so but they are no match for the hosts.

KR v. TIGERS
The Robins were destroyed by their arch rivals so they will be fired up when Cas come to town.
For the Tigers they won in cruise control as they exacted revenge for their opening day shock loss v the Wildcats.
Two evenly matched teams on paper and if the hosts are going to stay in the top 8 running they need a win to reduce the 3 point gap from 8th spot.
Both can play some good attacking RL but I think defensive frailties and injuries will prove costly for the Robins.

WOLVES v. DRAGONS
After their loss v ST’s the Wolves sit 2pts off 4th and wont want to see that gap increase.
The Dragons will be deflated after suffering a late comeback from the Giants to only draw a game they’d bounced back from 16-0 down to lead.
We all know how good Wire can be at home and equally how awful the Dragons are away from home and losing their big signing Carney to another injury makes mission impossible.
It will be a tough long night if the Dragons don’t turn up prepared to battle but even then I doubt that will be enough.

WARRIORS v. GIANTS
The game of the weekend as 4th plays 3rd but bizarrely not the sky game!
Both sides will take positives out of their magic exploits especially the Pies who comfortably out fought and out thought the League leaders to win.
For the Giants although concerns will be understandable after seemingly blowing a 16 pt lead they regained their composure and salvaged a draw.
This is another that could go either way but the Pies are travel sick this year and I expect the Giants to be more desperate to close that 3pt gap between the two teams.
Expect fireworks and points in equal measure but I think the Giants will shock smiler Wane and his grubby team.

WILDCATS v. RHINOS
After a 50pt pasting the last thing Wakey needed was a visit from the out of form wounded Rhinos.
For the visitors they need to bounce back asap after a depressingly convincing loss v the Pies saw their lead at the top reduced to just 1 point.
The Blue n Amber will be forced into 1 or 2 changes due to injury and suspension but they should be too good to get the win in the 1st gear.
It may not be the huge win many expect but still a convincing one for the visitors.
