rhinoms SuperLeague XX Previews - Round 14
Posted by southstander on May 06 2015 - 14:16:54

by rhinoms

It's an interesting looking weekend of Super League action which opens with a basement match-up between two of the bottom three in East Hull and ends with the league leaders trying to improve their one point from the last four form away in Cheshire.

In between the Devils will look to overturn the Giants and the Tigers and Dragons both look for shock wins against the Warriors and Saints respectively.

We take a look ahead to this weekends action here.....

Itís round 14 this week and as we get into the second half of the regular season the Rhinos lead the table by three points with Wakey cut adrift by five points at the bottom.

Here are this weeks previews.

KR v. WILDCATS

Itís 10th plays 12th when the Robins welcome the Wildcats on Thursday and given that these teams shipped a 100pts + last week between them expect plenty of tries.

Whilst the visitors were getting 40pts put on them by 2nd placed STís the hosts were pathetic over in the Pie dome where Wigan put 60 on them in 2nd gear.

Both teams have something to prove but I expect the Robins to have the upper hand given how well we know they can play whereas Wakey have a decimated squad and are doing tougher than anyone.

DEVILS v. GIANTS

After their request to cancel last weeks game away v FC the hosts actually did themselves proud despite losing to a late SA try so confidence should be good this week.

The Giants arrive after what should be a morale boosting draw v the Rhinos despite being 22-8 down at H/T but all theyíve done is whinge and ditched their Teddys as shown by Brough and Andersons post match comments.

However the visitors should be confident of keeping touch with the teams above them as they only sit 4pts off 3rd.

The devils could go on equal pts to the Giants with a win but I donít think theyíll have enough this week with some key players missing.

WARRIORS v. TIGERS

The hosts will expect a much tougher test this week when the 5th placed Tigers visit the Pie dome.

As we know Smiler Wane had plenty to say prior to the CC game last year when these 2 met which hilariously were rammed straight back down his throat as Cas marched on to the Final.

Revenge will be on the minds of the home faithful but it wonít be easy Cas know they can beat them and are in decent form.

It should be a cracking game and would have been a much better t.v choice than KR v Wakey but I think the home side will be too strong.

DRAGONS v. SAINTS

The 2nd placed STís travel to France 3pts off top spot and they will be determined to close that gap to 1pt with a win and the Rhinos not playing till Sunday.

As we know at Home the Dragons are a really tough team to beat but away they are weak and poor.

However with the STís showing signs of regaining form the hosts will have to be at their absolute best to win this week but I donít think they have enough.

It should be an entertaining game but my money is on away win as the visitors up the gears and put pressure on Leeds at the top.

WOLVES v. FC

After both teams scraped last gasp wins they will be confident and on a high going into this one.

The B&W know how to win here after upsetting the odds in the past whereas the Wire still have their sights set on a top 3 slot.

It could go either way but if the hosts play to anywhere near their potential is should be a straight forward home win.

I think the visitors will make a game of it for an hour but the Wolves will over power them in the end.

VIKINGS v. RHINOS

After last minute heartbreak in the derby the Vikings will hope to catch the League Leaders off guard.

The Rhinos are stuttering after a heavy defeat and losing a 14pt lead to draw last week in their previous 2 games.

The visitors have a good record here where other sides fail on the I-Pitch the Rhinos donít seem to mind it and with their pace it suits them.

I think it will be a tough game despite being 11th the Vikings are capable of beating anyone on their day so the visitors will have to improve.

Despite only drawing last week I think the Rhinos will still be confident and have too much strike for the hosts.

If you are travelling to a game have a safe journey and enjoy the action.
