rhinoms Superleague XX Previews - Round 3
Posted by southstander on February 25 2015 - 15:05:27

After last weekends three-nil thrashing at the hands of the Australians it is time to get back to the business of regular round Super League.

The pick of the ties sees the Rhinos hosting bogey side Huddersfield Giants on Thursday night, but there are intersting looking games at Saints (v. Tigers) and in Perpignan where the Dragons face the Wolves.

We take a look ahead to the weekends action here.....

After a week off for the new WCC series we return to SL action for Round 3 here are this weeks previews.

The Blue Ďní Amber welcome their bogey side of recent seasons when the winless Giants visit HQ.

Whilst the Hosts can boast a 100% record with 2 straight wins the visitors are still searching for their first points of the year but their recent record suggests they will arrive confident.

Already the Rhinos have scored 78 points and despite conceding 30 in their first game we saw a vast improvement in game 2 when they only conceded 6.

The Giants just arenít firing yet and let a good lead v Wigan slip last time out.

With the hosts pretty confident and the visitors not quite firing I think the recent hoodoo will be broken with the Rhinos taking the win.

The hosts will be fired up after getting a pasting on their own patch by the rampant Bunnies in the WCC.

The visitors are still awaiting their first win and still to settle down for life without Clark & Huby.

STís will rip in from the first minute and how Cas react to that initial onslaught will determine the final score but not the outcome.

The visitors wonít fear anyone and will come ready to play but last weeks result for the hosts paired with Cas yet to start firing I see another week without a win for Daryl Powells Tigers.

After a hard fought win the home side will have to be better across the board when Wire who are one of the top 3 favourites visit.

Discipline is a big issue for the Dragons so a massive improvement will be need in that department for them to even make a game of it.

The Wolves travel after a huge battle against St.George in their WCC series loss but they will be determined to make it 3 wins from 3.

2 huge packs but I think the speed and quality of the visitors will prove too much for the Catalan outfit.

After another week of turmoil at the big spending pretenders the hosts will be hopeful that the arrival of Tim Sheens will have an immediate positive effect.

The visitors have started well in fact much better than many predicted and despite an agonising 1 point loss last time out they will be confident of taking the spoils when they head west.

With a 50 point home hammering , problem child Hock off the books and Coach Sheens in their corner things can now only get better for Dr Mouth and his Mercenaries.

However they still donít look like a team organised enough or more importantly with enough heart for the battle ahead to me and I think it will be another game without a win.

The extra week off will have come at a good time for the Robins after losing both games thus far and after so many changes they needed time on the training ground to mould a team.

For the visitors they arrive after an agonising yet deserved extra time loss to the Broncos in their WCC series game and as we all know Silver Back Wane loves a sulk when they lose.

Itís another huge test for the hosts to gauge where they are with the 2015 new look team and despite some positives from the likes of Kelly and Campese I donít see them as serious challengers just yet.

The visitors can be very dangerous after a loss and I expect the backlash to be in full effect this week.

After a late collapse last time out when the Rhinos put on 4 tries in 15 minutes the Vikings will hoped to have fully recovered and regrouped when the underdogs from Wakey visit.

The Visitors are 2 wins from 2 and continue doing what they do best by defying the odds week after week.

The hosts will hope their talisman 6 Brown is recovered from concussion and Ah Van should be back after suspension which will make them stronger and at home we all know they can be dangerous.

However Wakey thrive on being written off and as past seasons have proved once they get winning momentum it can be hard to stop and I expect it to continue.

A close hard fought contest but I fancy another Wakey surprise win.
