rhinoms Superleague XIX Previews - Round 26
Posted by southstander on September 03 2014 - 08:29:34

by rhinoms

It's all over bar the shouting for top spot after the Saints narrow victory over the twelve man Rhinos last week. Castleford do have a chance to squeeze past them but it would take a minor miracle. The other places in the top eight are a little more uncertain.

The Rhinos could still finish as high as second or as low as sixth, it's all in the melting pot.

There are some high quality match-ups this weekend with the Wolves travelling to St Helens and the Rhinos visiting Wigan. The only thing you can be sure of is that little will be settled in Round 26, 2014 is going all the way to the finish line.

We preview the action here.....

This week itís the penultimate round in the regular Superleague season and although Saints look to have sealed top spot the rest of the top 8 is still very much a race for the best spots.

Here are this weeks previews.

SAINTS v. WOLVES

After scraping a lucky win against the twelve man Rhinos last week as good as sealed 1st the hosts will be confident when the erratic Wire visit.

The visitors showed a never say die attitude in their comeback last week which secured a ďBenthamĒ assisted point and kept their own top two hopes alive.

When these 2 meet its never a boring fixture and with the play offs on the horizon Iíd expect to see both teams up the gears.

With key players still missing I donít think the hosts will get out of jail the 2nd week in a row especially as the visitors will be determined to prove last week was just a blip.

A tough fast flowing encounter in prospect but I think the visitors edge it.

WARRIORS v. RHINOS

Whilst the twelve man visitors were agonisingly losing by a mere point last week the hosts were comprehensively beaten at Widnes.

This promises to be a another full bloodied encounter there is no love lost between these 2 and expect some heavy duty confrontations.

This could really go either way and the visitors have a desperation to win with a top 3 spot in mind whereas a win for the Pies means Leeds canít catch them.

Hopefully Burrow and McGuire are back for the Blue Ďní Amber which should soften the blow of losing Moon for two games but the battle upfront is where the game will be won and lost.

Itís 1-1 this year between the two so each Pack knows how to get on top of the opposition but after losing last week I think the visitors will want it more.

A huge clash in prospect and potentially the game of the year thus far but Iím going for a tight away win.

BULLS v. VIKINGS

After a good run of results the hosts were eventually beaten last week by a better Cas side so they will be determined to bounce back at Odslum.

The Vikings pulled off the shock of the round last week when they deservedly beat the Pies to keep their top 8 spot.

I think if the Vikings arrive with the same steel and determination as last week they win but the hosts are a much more dangerous team with Lowes calling the shots.

It should be a good game but the Vikings are chasing a top 8 spot which makes them slight favourites.

TIGERS v. WILDCATS

The Tigers can still snatch top spot but top two is still very much on and although a derby game they will be clear favourites.

Wakey arrive confident after they destroyed the big spending also rans last week so they will expect to match the hosts blow for blow.

I think there will be plenty of fireworks and it should be close for about an hour but the hosts class will tell late on.

GIANTS v. FC

After scraping a draw v Wire last week when they had dominated much of the game I expect the host to come out fired up.

The visitors have least got local bragging rights after destroying their neighbours last week but they have had a poor year overall.

The season cant end soon enough for the B+Wís but the Giants still have a top 3 spot to fight for.

One way traffic in this one the hosts will be too good and too determined for the visitors.

KR v. DRAGONS

After a public slating from their Coach for a pathetic performance in the Derby the hosts ďowe the fans oneĒ so who better to play than the travel sick Dragons.

Whilst at home they are tough and play a great brand of RL when they travel the visitors are poor with and without the ball.

The Dragons still hold a top 8 spot so have plenty to play for but they just donít have the heart away from home.

I think a comprehensive win is the only thing that will take the ďstingĒ out of last weeks abysmal effort and thatís what I think the Robins will serve up.

DEVILS v. BRONCOS

After getting destroyed by the discarded and publically slated T.Smith and his mates last week Dr Mouthpiece cancelled the end of year player awards so expect a sulking and fired up Devils.

For the Nags the year canít end soon enough so they can concentrate on 2015 and id expect a game that reflects their relegation fodder status.

A comfortable win for the big money flops but still no top 8 spot!

If you are travelling to a game have a safe journey and enjoy the action.
