rhinoms Superleague XIX Previews - Round 22
Posted by southstander on July 24 2014 - 08:43:28

by rhinoms

Round twenty-two sees Hull KR and Wigan with the byes as they pick up two points against London and Bradford, but the other five games could go either way.

Last weekend goes to prove that anything can happen in our game; if you'd told me that Leeds skipper Sinfield would be sitting out the next two rounds after head-butting an opponent then I would have had more than enough grounds to have had you laced into a straight-jacket and committed to the nearest mental health institution for your own safety.

It should be another cracking weekend, but please, no more idols falling!

We preview the action here.....

This week itís round 22 of the Superleague season and as we hit the home straight the top eight is still to be settled from one to eight!

Here are this weeks previews.

After an hard fought draw at HQ the Tigers travel East to face the B&W also rans.

For the hosts they will be trying to restore what little pride they have left after a humping against the Pies which left an even bigger question mark over Rookie Coach Radfords future.

With ex Tiger Westerman in the FC ranks and ex FC skipper Lynch back in Black Ďní Amber it means there will be players with a point to prove It should be a reasonable game for 40/50 minutes but the home side lack the confidence and quality to beat the high flying Tiggers.

The home side just arenít good enough and although it may not be as bad as the hiding they got last week the visitors should add to the old faithfulís misery!

After a confidence boosting away win kept the big spending Devils in the race for 8th I expect that they will be fired up when the Rhinos visit.

After the visitors Skipper and Talisman Sir Kev lost his head in Dorns face in last weeks enthralling Draw they will have to regroup.

The hosts are growing in confidence after beating both Hull clubs and whilst the top 8 is a possibility they will have something to play for.

The visitors need to build some sort of momentum with the CC semi just 3 weeks away and as yet they have struggled to match the form they showed for the first 13 rounds.

It should be an entertaining game but the quality of the visitors back line should be just too much for the hosts even with the mercurial Chase leading the way for them.

After stunning the in form Wire last week Betts & his Vikings will travel full of confidence when they meet the Saints.

The hosts are still in the hunt for top spot and will expect to maintain that challenge.

Both sides are capable of scoring quality trys but there are more questions over the visitors defence and consistency that point to a home win.

IF the Vikings bring their A game it could be a cracking contest but I just donít think they have the quality of the top five teams.

After losing last week the Robins have a chance to improve their points diff and return to winning ways in a non-contest against the wooden spoonists.

After their relegation was made ďofficialĒ last week the games donít come much harder than facing the in form league leaders.

For the Pies they are on a roll after dishing out another hiding last week against the also rans from Codsville.

I think itís going to be another painful 80 minutes for Jimmy and his forlorn Dulls whilst the Pies look to improve their points Diff and keep a grip on top spot.

Two of the biggest packs in the SL clash when these two meet.

The visitors bounced back in style last week when they destroyed the Wildcats whilst the hosts were racking up 50+ points when confirming the Dulls relegation.

It should be close especially if Mcbrough is still missing for the hosts but the visitors are Jekyll and Hyde in that they donít travel well at all.

A fierce battle up front and an intriguing match up in the BR when Ferres & Whitehead meet but I think the Giants hold the edge in pace and skill in the centres and wings.

After a stunning loss last week the Wolves will be determined to show their teeth when the Wildcats visit.

For wakey its mission accomplished for 2014 they are safe and also the took some top 8 scalps along the way.

Although capable of competing I think the visitors will be looking to 2015 and wonít be able to match the pace of the Wire.
