rhinoms Superleague XIX Previews - Round 16

Superleague is back with avengance as we head into Round sixteen and a number of mouthwatering games in prospect.

Thursday night sees a Hardaker'less Rhinos take on the Giants, while Fridays televised game will show us whether Castleford Challenge Cup win over the Warriors was just a one-off as they travel to the DW for the re-match.

But the great games keep on coming as the Bulls travel to Salford, the Broncos have a chance of their first win of the season at Wakefield, and Saints have to visit Perpignan to take on the Dragons.

We preview the action here.....

After a break for the CC quarter finals its back to the weekly grind of SL as we enter RD 16 here are this weeks previews.

Blue Ďní Amber welcome their nemesis of recent seasons when the last years LLS winners visit HQ.

For the hosts their form has dipped with both their promising attack and defensive resolve vanishing at an alarming rate not helped by the loss of both 1st choice 9ís & the promising form of Achurch.

The visitors have had an extra week to prepare and are showing signs of the good form from last year with the added confidence of knowing they have beaten us virtually at will in recent seasons barring a play-off defeat.

Losing ZH for five games is a massive blow but JP avoiding a ban is a bonus ,itís a game for the Team to bounce back and show the recent lossí are just a blip.

We owe the Giants one & I expect a really tough game up front and plenty of defensive questions to be asked of us but I get a feeling this the week we start regaining form and confidence.

The Robins are quite capable on their day but injuries are biting and the visit of in form Wire makes their task this week virtually mission impossible.

Smithís Wolves have found their mojo and look every bit GF contenders again as their fast ptbís and sharp dummy half play are starting to run riot.

The home side will battle and ask their own attacking questions but defensively they donít have enough.

After a poor result at Odslum hastened Agars departure the home side will welcome the chance to get a good convincing win when the wooden spoonists from down the M1 visit.

For the nags they travel in the hope this could be their first win of 2014 but they still lack the quality to put together a full 80 minutes good enough for the points.

After cruising through their CC match the hosts will be confident when Radfords poor airlie bird team head west.

The Vikings are looking to cement their top 8 spot and will see this as 2 points well within their grasp whereas the visitors have a Coach who is virtually a dead man walking as his job hangs by a very thin seaweed thread.

It should be close if the visitors turn it into a grind but the home side have too much attacking capability for the B+W to handle.

Itís a repeat of last weeks CC QF epic as the Tigers return to the venue of their finest hour of 2014 thus far irrespective of Wanes pre-match moans and whinges.

After losing their grip on the cup I think the Pies will be fired up and determined to prove a point but as weíve seen the Tigers wonít give up nor will they be intimidated.

This could be one of the games of the season but although last week took a lot out of both teams I think physically it might just hit the visitors harder.

An epic struggle in prospect but I think the home side will be just a little bit more desperate after the Cup loss.

Both teams had a week off to refresh and regroup as the Top of the League team visit the Dragons.

As we know the hosts are a tough ,fast skilful team on their own paddock so the visitors will need to be ready if they are to maintain their grip on 1st.

I think it will be closer than many expect but the quality and depth favours the visitors as they look to maintain their climb out of their recent form slump.

Plenty of points and tough square ups but itís an away win.

After beating Wakey the visitors will hope to be travelling having regained the points they lost for farcical boardroom procedures again.

Should the hosts have any slight hope of a late top 8 challenge no matter how unlikely they need to win this ,even more so as they are nearer to the relegation battle than the trophy hunt their mouthy owner predicted.

The visitors can cause an upset if they can grind and show the spirit shown in wins v Wakey & Wire but do they have the quality?

The hosts arenít even a real team as they are filled with mercenaries ,has beens and never will bes so I think if it gets into a grind they wonít fancy it.

A shock win for the visitors and ANOTHER online meltdown by their rich but foolish owner.

If you are travelling to a game have a safe journey and enjoy the action.
