rhinoms Superleague XIX Previews - Round 12
Posted by southstander on May 07 2014 - 06:59:24

by rhinoms

All Superleague eyes will be focussed on the 'Mend-A-Hose Jungle' for the top versus third clash between the Tigers and the Rhinos.

The picks of the other clashes appear to be the Dragons visit to the Halliwell-Jones, and Hull KR's attempt to maintain the Devils misery as the pressure continues to mount on Iestyn Harris.

In the other games you'd expect walkovers for Saints, the Giants, the Warriors and the Vikings.

But in the season we've learnt to expect the unexpected.

We preview the action here.....

After a weekend which sprang a few surprise results those teams on the wrong end of those shocks will be looking to bounce back as we go into Round Twelve of the SL season.

Here are this weeks previews.

TIGERS v. RHINOS

Itís 3rd v 1st as the high flying Tigers welcome the league leaders and neighbours the Rhinos.

For the hosts this is another chance to cement their place as serious challengers for the top four whereas the visitors will be hoping to maintain their grip on top spot.

It should be a cracking game with plenty of fierce ,fast and quality RL on show with both teams capable of scoring from anywhere on the park.

Whilst both teams are scoring quality trys full of skill ,pace and off the cuff itís the visitors defence which will be key as they by far boast the best defensive stats in SL.

A tough but quality encounter in store which could go either way but the Defence of the Blue Ďní Amber should be enough to secure another win.

FC v. WARRIORS

After surrendering a sixteen point lead and a scathing outburst from their rookie coach the hosts will be fired up and looking to bounce back when the Double holders come to the KC.

For the visitors they were out-gunned by the in form Rhinos last week so also have a desperation to put things right in this fixture.

The Home side can produce some decent RL at times but lack serious quality in pivotal positions so they will need the visitors to have an off night if they are to get a result.

The one thing Wigan have in abundance is the strength of character to bounce back after poor performances and losses which I think will be on show once again.

I donít think the home side have enough quality across the 17 man squad to get the job done against a determined Pie team who will be fired up to bounce back from a loss.

WOLVES v. DRAGONS

Whilst the visitors are showing some good form on their own turf the hosts just canít get any consistency going.

After a shock defeat at the lowly Bulls many locals are asking more questions of their team and coach and another loss here will seriously crank up the pressure.

The visitors are very much a home performing team in 2014 but are capable of springing a surprise if the hosts arenít at the races.

I think it will be closer than many think and possibly more of a grind as the home side still look to gel their halves and FB but they should just have enough to get back to winning ways.

VIKINGS v. WILDCATS

Both sides go into this fixture on the back of good away wins so confidence shouldnít be a problem.

The Hosts are looking to maintain their top 4/5 challenge whereas the visitors will be determined to keep as much distance between themselves and the bottom two.

Although they are capable of upsetting the odds I donít think the visitors will have enough to stop the high flying Vikings.

The Vikings are playing some good attacking RL and are very strong at home which will prove good enough again this week.

DEVILS v. KR

After another defeat this time in Perpignan the big spenders are back home when the Robins visit.

This should be end to end with plenty of points but the hosts are still not gelling defensively ,have yet to get used to new coach Harris and lack serious depth.

The Robins are inconsistent result wise but still a pretty tough team to beat which should prove enough this week and lead to another online outburst from the Dr.

BRONCOS v. GIANTS

After another loss the wooden spoonists have ditched their coach but it wont make any difference when the resurgent Giants head south.

The visitors will be confident after snatching a one point win against high flying Cas and will see this as a chance to rest 1 or 2 and rack up the points.

BULLS v. SAINTS

After stunning Wire last week on the back of a CC win the hosts suddenly look more like a RL team capable of getting results.

That said the visitors are looking to rebuild a winning run after a miserable Easter and Cup exit which lead to some scathing comments from their Chairman.

I think it will be back to reality with a bang as the hosts get a reminder that they are still very much favourites for relegation and not capable of competing with sides in the top Four.

A chance for the visitors to get back to back wins and get their top two challenge back on track.
