rhinoms Superleague XIX Previews - Round 6
Posted by southstander on March 19 2014 - 17:37:46

by rhinoms

There is more chance of me changing my name to 'Del Boy' and winning 108 million on the lottery, than there is of the Broncos upsetting the Rhinos apple cart, but around the other six games there are some far more intriguing battles.

Who could confidently pick a winner between Warrington and Wigan, or Hull FC and the Vikings, or Hull KR and the Bulls? All three of those could easily go either way on early season form.

You'd like to fancy high-flying Castleford at Salford, and top of the table Saints should get the win at Wakefield, but stranger things have already happened this season.

We preview the action here.....

As we reach round six there are still three teams left unbeaten with two of those remaining looking to protect 100% win records.

Here are this weeks previews.

WOLVES v. WARRIORS

The game or the round kicks off this weeks fixtures when the last years 2 GF teams meet at the HJ stadium.

Both sides have stuttered at times & a good hiding down under in the WCC still hangs over the visitors but at least both teams are starting to win games.

Its taking the Double Winners longer than usual to get going and for their new arrivals to completely gel but they remain a dangerous team even more so when they click.

For TS his side will see this as their chance to start "putting the record straight" and also beat a top 6 team at last after losing to ST's and the Rhinos thus far.

Hopefully it will live up to its potential and we will have an end to end explosive game of RL however for me home advantage is key and I think Wire will just have too much.

RHINOS v. BRONCOS

Another bizarre choice of fixture for Sky when the whipping boys visit the unbeaten Rhinos.

For the hosts a perfect chance to rest anyone with knocks and also rotate some of their "experienced" pack.

Another hiding for the visitors but a chance for youngsters like Foster and Minns to show their potential whilst facing their parent Club on loan for the Broncos.

DRAGONS v. GIANTS

Its the first "Live" home game for then Dragons after a new agreement between French broadcasters and Sky to show ALL the hosts home games as live "extras" on the Sky RL schedule.

Unfortunately for the hosts they face a Giants team hitting form and are likely to dish out good hiding to the fire less Dragons.

Its just not happening for the Catalans suspensions, injuries and pathetic performances are starting to take their toll with Fakir & Webb bearing the brunt of their eccentric Chairman.

I think its going to be another Monday morning autopsy for the hosts as they lack any kind of confidence and quality at the moment and the Giants will show no mercy.

FC v. VIKINGS

After another late close loss the Cod eads are ready to give someone a pasting and i think this weeks visitors good be on the receiving end.

The hosts just haven't got a winning run started yet despite being in just about every game they've lost till the final minutes.

The visitors arrive on the back of a RL lesson when their 100% win record was blown apart by a quality second half display by the Rhinos last week. What will also be a major loss from last week will be injuries to Tickle and one of SL's form 7's Mellor.

I think the visitors will have a dig but injuries will catch up with them lacking depth.

KR v. BULLS

The Robins looked pretty good last at times last week especially during the first half at the Pie dome so can at least look to build some sort of confidence.

The visitors are still reeling from off field Chaos to disjointed mayhem on it after they suffered a 12 try wipe-out despite the Koukash circus arriving for a very brief time.

It could actually be a close game both teams lack quality ,consistency and that killer instinct but the Red half of Cods-ville hold the better cards.

DEVILS v. TIGERS

The big spenders entertain one of the 100%'s when the wagon train heads west into "Hell" (PMSL).

For the good Dr another defeat last week wasn't good enough and once again he was chelping to any and all media outlets.

The Tiggers did it again last week securing a late win at home to keep their momentum going under Coach Powell.

Again this has potential to be a decent game but the hosts are still yet to gel from 1-17 have a couple of injuries and seriously lack depth.

I expect another "Dr Rant" come Monday morning as the Tigger army show their claws again.

WILDCATS v. SAINTS

The hosts have got their season really going and ooze confidence after back to back thumping wins albeit against the Dragons and pub team Broncos.

For ST's this is the first test of their squad depth as suspension and injury starts to bite the biggest loss coming at HB with the on fire Walsh out for 4-6 weeks.

If Wakey get going at home they are tough to beat but they are still trying to gel a lot of players and aren't over-loaded with quality.

A closer game than many will expect but I doubt the home side has enough firepower to halt the ST's 100% winning run.
