Rhinoms Superleague XIX Previews - Round 5
Posted by southstander on March 12 2014 - 13:48:05

Round five brings us a strange weekend of fixtures with local derbies as Salford host Warrington and Huddersfield travel to Bradford.

The Saints and the Wildcats look to have weekends easiest two points as they take on the Dragons and Broncos respectively.

The Rhinos have a tough home game against the unbeaten Vikings, and the Warriors will be licking their wounds as they entertain KR. And don't forget the Tigers looking to maintain their 100% record against Hull FC.

We preview the action here.....

As we enter Round 5 we are down to three teams with 100% win records and a total of just four wuith an unbeaten record.

Here are this weeks Previews.

RHINOS v. VIKINGS

After a hard fought draw away from home last week the unbeaten Blue 'n' Amber face 1 of the teams with a 100% win record left standing. The hosts return home after back to back away trips which saw them return with three points out of a possible four.

Coach Betts has got his team are going from strength to strength & could be the "success story" of the flawed and maligned franchise era of SL.

Both games between these two were points fests last year when both sets of defences went walk about for various reasons but I expect that not to be the case this week.

The visitors are showing plenty of promise and are looking like sure fire bets for the top 8 but I expect the Rhinos to have too much firepower out wide and get the win in a pretty close contest.

REDS v. WOLVES

The big spending Dr's new toy looked much improved early on last week but when the Vikings upped the gears they had no answer and their lack of depth was again exposed.

This week they entertain another of the top 5 regulars when the stuttering Wire arrive into town who themselves have had issues early on this year.

After a morale boosting win against the relegation certs the visitors will be more confident and I think the issues surrounding the "money men" are from getting sorted they lack depth ,cohesion and in many cases the spirit that teams/squads build at Clubs they have a couple of shining lights in the shape of Harrison Hanson/Greg Johnson but they cant carry this team on their own.

A case of deja vu for the good Dr "ok for the first half but no response when their opponents up the gears".

SAINTS v. DRAGONS

A total mis-match the 100% record Saints are looking top class but with the steel resolve when under pressure and the scores are close.

The visitors are a complete mess poor discipline, poor defence, poor team and another hiding this week.

WARRIORS v. KR

After last weeks shock last gasp loss Coach Wane will have his mis-firing team charged up for a much better shift when the Robins bob into town.

For coach sandercoack its the same old story with his team lack of quality, consistency and direction.

The new look Pies are still finding their feet this year but they are still a better outfit all round than the fractured Robins and this will be another nail in the visiting Coaches p45 coffin.

BRONCOS v. WILDCATS

The pub team did well for an hour or so last week before getting out-classed and over-powered by the Wire but they will take confidence from the game.

The puddy cats finally showed their claws when they destroyed the gutless and powder puff Dragons last week so will travel south confident and on a high.

I think this will be a close fought game both teams have serious defensive issues and both are still trying to get their new signings to gel after huge squad over-hauls.

A battle for the points for the whole game could be just what the hosts need to progress but they lack the quality to get the morale boosting win.

BULLS v. GIANTS

The hosts are still in disarray off the field an lack cohesion and quality on it.

The visitors returned to some of their best form during the hard fought dr

aw with the Rhinos last week and will look to build on that this week. Fair play to Coach Cummins he keeps getting his team to have a dig but once again that wont be anywhere near enough this week as last years LLS holders get some momentum & their season up and running.

TIGERS v. FC

The surprise package of the season thus far the Tiggers are 100%'s and top of the league!

The hosts will still be buzzing after their last gasp win over the Pies last week proved their start this year is no fluke & Coach Powell has expelled any fears that they can't function without Rangi.

For the Cod eads they deservedly got a morale boosting win against the hapless Dulls last week after a couple of "unlucky" and close defeats.

The spirit and confidence Darn't Lane is oozing and they'll expect to get another win this week but I think this is where the streak ends.

The visitors have shown some resolve against better teams like Wire & St's thus far and will look to build on that this week.

I think this is really too close to call and wouldn't be surprised to see another draw but I think the visitors will just nick it.
