Posted by southstander on December 06 2013 - 08:40:09

Player of the Year

All season you have been voting for your weekly rounds Man of the Match.

After twenty-seven rounds of Superleague XVIII we had a clear winner, and he's a Southstand and Superleague favourite, the ex-England and GB captain, Jamie Peacock. Jamie picks up the accolade for the second time, having won back in 2008.

Our previous winners have been Robbie Mears (2001), Matt Diskin (2002), Matt Adamson (2003), Danny McGuire (2004 and 2010), Kevin Sinfield (2005, 2009 and 2011), Rob Burrow (2006 and 2007), Jamie Peacock (2008). Jamie beat Rob Burrow (2nd) and Zak Hardaker (3rd) to the illustrious honour, voted for by you, the Southstanders.

Jamie made his Rhinos debut in Fenruary 2006 against Huddersfield Giants and has since pulled on a Rhinos shirt of 227 occurences (14 from the bench) and scored twenty-two tries.

He has picked up five Grand Final winners rings with the Rhinos to add to the three that he won wile playing for Bradford Bulls. He has won the World Club Challenge on four occasions, twice with Leeds, and was Man of Steel ten years ago in 2003.

In 2012 he was awarded the MBE in recognition of his services to rugby league.

Well done Jamie, and here is to an even better year in 2014.
