rhinoms Superleague XVIII Preview - Play Offs II
Posted by southstander on September 18 2013 - 11:55:59

by rhinoms

The bookies think that it will be the Giants and the Rhinos, the two home sides, who make their progress through to next weeks final eliminator games against either Warrington or Wigan.

Hull FC have been given +10 on the coupon while the Saints have +6. Both games are expected to be tight, and only a win will do.

Two sides will go on to fight another week, two will crash and burn for 2013.

Read more here....

And then there were six!

It's Round Two of the play offs this week and from now on it's a straight knock out comp so last weeks losers get their second and final chance whilst the two lowest place winners travel away in the hope of maintaining their winning momentum.

Here are this weeks previews.

GIANTS v. FC

The league leaders will look for 100% improvement after fluffing their lines during week one when the Pies outplayed them.

For McBrough and co this is their chance to bounce back and show why they won the Hub-Cap.

The Cods trawl into to town on the back of a hard fought win against the mis-firing Dragons and will travel with confidence after a tough defensive display.

Both have shown some good defence at times this year but it's the hosts who have the flair and pace with ball in hand and I think they will have too much as long as they don't lose their composure and get stage fright like last week.

RHINOS v. SAINTS

The defending Champs return to HQ on the back of a comprehensive beating at the hands of 2nd placed Wire last time out.

Everything that could have gone wrong did last week for the Blue 'n' Amber their defence had more holes in it than a T-bag and they looked like part time strangers 85% of the time with ball in hand.

For the visitors they didn't need to get out of 1st gear as Roby lead them with to a crushing win over also rans HKR and whilst they didn't face the hardest opponents the plastic Scousers are looking sharp and like real GF contenders now they have their injured stars back.

Defence and Composure should be the buzz words for the hosts because both need to match our previous play off best to win this.

With Roby a real threat and the pace in which ST's attack V the JP lead Rhinos pack ,Burrows unpredictability and their exciting young outside backs its going to be a great game as long as both bring their A game.

A tough game to call but knock out play off RL is when the Rhinos are at their most dangerous add in a poor defeat and home advantage that's when the hosts show WHY they have won so many GF's recently.

If you are travelling to a game have a safe journey and enjoy the action. Note for Rhinos fans the u19's are playing the curtain raiser against their ST's counterparts in their own knock out play off match KO 5.30.

Thanks for reading.
