rhinoms Superleague XVIII Previews - Round 24
Posted by southstander on August 06 2013 - 08:46:54

by rhinoms

Round twenty-four of Superleague has thrown up a couple of mouthwatering ties and SKY has had the common sense to select them both for broadcast.

It is anyones game as the Giants travel to the Warriors for what could be the Minor Premiership decider and at the other end of the top eight, KR take on FC in the East Yorkshire derby in what is almost certain to be a 'no holes barred' slugfest!

What do our pundits think the outcomes will be?

Read more here....

This week its round 24 of the Superleague and the top is still to be settled as well as the placings within it!

Here are this weeks previews.

The season can't end soon enough for the hosts so that they can re-build for 2014 and forget a season of poor results and dross performances.

The Champs arrive after what can only be described as an indifferent win last week down south against the resident SL pub team.

There's an old adage that a Team with nothing to play are a dangerous won which is right to some extent they can play without pressure and with everything to gain.

However this team is just a very poor one and hopefully we'll see the Champs up the gears and not get dragged into a grind full of errors and low intensity.

I expect a better Blue 'n' Amber performance this week and think they will too.

The visitors will arrive with some confidence after their exploits against a mis-firing Rhinos last week but the hosts will be looking to build on a dominant win in France last week.

Despite some positives in defeat the visitors remain a poor team and I expect them to have nothing for the hosts to worry about in this one.

I think it will be a one sided encounter with the hosts taking the win in 2nd gear.

It's the shoot out for the hub cap at the Pie Dome and thus far (CC aside) Mcbroughs mob have maintained good form and are top on merit.

For the hosts they will see this as a good chance to lay down a marker for the play off before they turn their attentions to the CC final at the end of the month.

This is clearly one of if not the game of the W/E and hopefully it will live up to its billing with home team not having to rely on shocking calls all round from the officials especially the VR if its Charnleys "twitter love" James Child!

It should be brutal ,fast and both teams have pace, skill and a good kicking game but I think home advantage edges it.

The visitors really let one get away last week when they lost out to the Dulls at home and making it near impossible to make the eight but they'll be desperate to keep that glimmer of hope.

The hosts stuttered last week in rock ridge when they had to recover from 24-6 down against the Tiggers so I'd expect TS to have them fired up and on the ball this week.

The visitors will give it a go and may even trouble the Wire for parts of the game but the Wolves will have too much for them.

KR v. FC

Lets hope the RFL have an ounce of sense and keep Cyclops Ganson as far away from this one as possible preferably at the bottom of the Humber with concrete boots on!

It's the "Trawler Wars" but this time in the Red half of Cods-ville. Both teams want the win but i think home advantage and despite an upturn in form for the B+W's the Robins will have the edge especially after the farce at Millennium W/E.

Another brutal clash in prospect and perfect for T.V. sit back and enjoy what promises to be an all out no hold barred blood bath.

After a tough win away last week after a difficult time off the pitch again the hosts are back at the biggest outside Dunny in Yorkshire.

This week the dragons are the visitors and they cant get their form right home or away.

The home side will be confident they can take out this lot and keep their own slim hopes of a top eight finish alive.

The visitors need wins asap to build for the play offs or their season could just end on a huge downer.

A close game but more because of both teams frailties rather than equal quality but the home side should just edge it.

The home team got one of their renowned hidings last week so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them return the favour and take out on the visitors this week they are that unpredictable.

However the Wagon train head West with a newly found steel under DP if not the wins to match it.

Whilst they wont challenge the top eight the visitors are capable against teams like the Vikings and I think they'll get a good win.
