rhinoms Superleague XVIII Previews - Round 21
Posted by southstander on July 04 2013 - 14:59:39

by rhinoms

The life of a pundit is far from simple.

Take round twenty when the Tigers travelled to the Warriors and took the points, KR getting the two against the Saints, the Rhinos winning comfortably over a tough looking Vikings, and the Giants hammering the Catalans.

Will this week be any more predictable?

Read more here....

This week we reach Round 21 of the SuperLeague and it's still all to play for in the race for the top eight.

Here are this weeks previews.

WOLVES v. RHINOS

On paper this looks like mission impossible as the injury hit Champs travel to the in form and near full strength Wire.

Whilst the Blue 'n' Amber have shown they still carry an attacking threat their defence has looked weak and disorganised on regular occasions. TS will have his side fired up and whilst the hosts are contending top spot they'll be determined to put the visitors away early on.

It could be a long night and a tough lesson for the young Rhinos but if they can have a good start and remain in the contest at the 50 minute mark I think the confidence will grow.

Unsettling the hosts and a strong opening defensive effort is key here and in true "Blinkered" fashion i think the young Rhinos are capable of an upset ala Cas at Wigan last week so i'm going for the shock of the season.

WARRIORS v. BULLS

After a couple of losses the home side will be in a mood to give someone a pasting and the out of form visitors are the perfect victims.

It's just not happening for the Bulls and although mathematically they are not out of the top 8 race they lack momentum and creativity.

This is another game where the score could get heavy but I think the visitors will battle it out and keep the score respectable for them.

DRAGONS v. BRONCOS

After a poor surrender at the Giants last week the hosts have the perfect sacrificial lamb or Nag this week when SL's pub team visit the south of France.

Whilst the visitors will be boosted by the arrival of Soward they lack depth and quality in all other areas and that again will show this week.

A morale boosting win for the hosts and for the visitors a desperation for 2013 to end so they can plan for next year.

TIGERS v. SAINTS

The hosts will believe they can still make the top eight after last weeks shock win at the Pie-Dome.

The visitors form and poor year has caused their owner to lay down the law and remind the Coach and his players their efforts are unacceptable.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wagon train continue their good form but ST's are due to give someone a pasting or at least dig out a win.

Under Powell the Tiggers have more about them across the park with and without the ball so a tough game in prospect but I think the fired up visitors will get the win in a close one.

FC v. GIANTS

This is has a feel of a must win game for the hosts after recent losses if they are to be contenders.

The feel good factor keeps on going for the visitors they remain firmly in the race for top spot and the blips of seasons past are yet to occur if at all.

The Cods will get stuck in and give it a go but they aren't the contenders their owner declared they'd be this year and they certainly aren't good enough to win this one.

It has the promise of an entertaining game but the hosts don't have enough mussle to win this one.

KR v. REDS

Whilst Nobbys misfits enjoyed a rare win last week they'll be back to losing ways when they travel East to the Red mullets.

Whingercock has his team on form and oozing confidence which makes it a shame to hear the team will be dismantled next year.

With Dobson leading the way the visitors are in for a long afternoon and the best they can hope for is keeping the score respectable which will be seen as a moral win.

WILDCATS v. VIKINGS

The hosts are starting their end of year charge towards the top eight and after last mondays win at FC they will see this as another great chance to continue that momentum.

The visitors will be desperate to replicate their last 25 minutes efforts from last week when they scored 4 tries and looked like a strong attacking outfit.

However I can't see the hosts taking their foot off the gas and the visitors don't look good enough defensively to grind an away win in this one.

It could be a point fest but for me the hosts will maintain that winning feeling.
