Rhinoms Superleague XVIII Previews - Round 20
Posted by southstander on June 27 2013 - 19:15:43

by rhinoms

After a great weekend of rugby in Round 19 it may be difficult for Round 20 to live up to our expectations of drama and excitement.

But there could still be some cracking encounters as KR take on the Saints, the Warriors welcome a bouyant Tigers, and the wounded Rhinos travel over to Cheshire for a dangerous looking fixture against the Vikings.

Read more here....

This week it's Round 20 of the SuperLeague season and Clubs will be looking for momentum down the home straight with the play offs weeks away and fast approaching.

Here are this weeks previews.

GIANTS v. DRAGONS

After bouncing back with a strong win against the decimated Champs last week the hosts will hope to maintain that winning feeling and strengthen their grip on a top three spot.

The visitors slipped up again at home last week and are looking like they are really missing their 7 as they failed again to take their chances.

This could be brutal up front with both sides having big physical packs but I think the hosts have the edge at HB and pace out wide.

It promises to be a good game and it's a big game for both sides aspirations this year but home advantage and pace swing it in the hosts favour.

SAINTS v. KR

The visitors arrive full of confidence after sealing a surprise win in France last week whilst the hosts completed a routine big win against the pub team from Salford.

The Red half of cods-ville have already knocked ST's out of the CC and won the reverse fixture earlier in the year so the hosts will have revenge firmly on their minds.

If the in form Rovers turn up it could be a very good game but I still think the return of a couple of their stars and home advantage will be key for the ST's.

WARRIORS v. TIGERS

The visitors looked decent at times last week during their close hard fought win against the B+W's but at the same time very vulnerable defensively.

The league leaders go into this without a few star names and on the back of a loss in a tough game away at Wire.

I'm sure Cas will go into this confident and looking to build on some stuff from last week but even missing various starts the home team aren't league leaders for nothing.

The Tiggers will get stuck in and not give up under Powell but they still lack quality and that will cost them this week.

BRONCOS v. REDS

IT's the pub team shoot out which could go a long way in deciding who finishes bottom.

Both teams have a lot of average players and leak points for fun but I think the nags have a deep injury list as well which should give the Reds hope.

This really could be something like 42-56 the defences are that bad but I think the visitors should have enough no matter the final score to get the points.

BULLS v. WOLVES

The hosts keep losing whereas the visitors arrive after a deserved win v the League Leaders it only points to one result.

The home side will have a dig but they don't have enough quality or nous to beat the visitors and another loss beckons.

For the visitors don't be surprised to see TS rest a couple of his stars bit they have more than enough to take the points in cruise control.

VIKINGS v. RHINOS

The Champs will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to the team they beat only a fortnight ago in the rearranged WCC fixture.

The hosts got a good win last week after trailing and looking lost for the 1st half hour whereas the Champs were having a dig away at the Giants the hosts form and quality proved too much.

The Blue 'n' Amber will once again be looking to many young guns and fringe players to get the job done but they should be boosted by the return of Moon and possibly Watkins but have lost Work horse JJB.

I think it will be a tight game the Vikings know they can score points against us and a good start may prove vital but I still think we should have enough to take the points.

FC v. WILDCATS

After losing in rock ridge last week the B+W's will see this as a chance to bounce back but Wakey will be confident after a resounding win last week. Both teams need the points to maintain their top eight ambitions and the visitors are capable of pulling off a shock win.

However, losing last week will have rattled the hosts shell and I think that will reinforce their determination to show they can bounce back and that last week was only a blip.

Again I expect the visitors to have a dig and make a game of it but I think home advantage and last weeks loss will give the reef the edge.
