Key Man?
by Matthew Horton

The Rhinos Senior Academy are back in action tonight as they entertain the Widnes Vikings at Scatchered Lane, the home of Morley RFC, in what is the stand out fixture of the campaign so far.

Both teams go into the fixture with only one defeat in the league this season and something has to give. Kick off is at 7.30pm.

We preview the game here.

Leeds make 12 changes in total from the comprehensive victory over Dewsbury at Headingley last Friday night. Out go Nick Scruton, Matt Diskin and Francis Cummins, all rested for the trip to France and still no Lee Smith who is retained by the first team squad. Danny Williams returns after missing last with injury. Luke Burgess, Jason Golden and Jamie I'Anson return to the run on side after coming off the bench last week. Dave Tootill moves back to the interchange to be used as an "impact" player. Luke Gale, Steve Brooke and Michael Haley join Tootill on the bench, reward for their impressive performances in the Under-18's. Danny Ireland makes way to accommodate Luke Gale. With the loss of the experienced players this is another very young Rhinos line up, by my reckoning Matt Gardner will be the oldest player in Blue and Amber tomorrow night.

The Rhinos line up is 1. Jordan Tansey; 2. Danny Williams, 3. Ashley Gibson, 4. Chris Buttery, 5. Matt Gardner; 6. Scott Murrell, 7. Ian Gordon; 8. Luke Burgess, 9. Jamie I' Anson, 10. Luke Stenchion, 11. Jason Hart, 12. Jason Golden, 13. Carl Ablett; 14. Luke Gayle, 15. Steve Brooke, 16. Michael Haley, 17. Dave Tootill

Widnes come into this game arguably the form side in the competition, they are now unbeaten since Round 1 of the competition when they were defeated by the Salford City Reds 22-18. Since then they have rattled in some huge scores 80 v Castleford and Keighley and broke the 100 point barrier against Dewsbury in Round 9. Its a team that has been together for a while, Paul Crook has been banging the goals over relentlessly and Widnes have a big pack led by Bruce Johnson and Steve Nash. Hooker Phil Wood is a livewire and Adam Bibey, younger brother of Ricky, will be one to keep an eye on as well. Also my sources tell me to expect Misili Manu and Adam Hughes to be in the Widnes team as well as they add some experience to the team.

If you can't get to France and you want your fix for this week then get along to this game. It's going to be rough and tumble as these heavyweights clash head to head. Please support this game, the facilities at Morley are excellent and the bar will be open throughout the game. The game kicks off at 7.30pm and entry is free.
