rhinoms Superleague XVIII Previews - Round 7
Posted by southstander on March 14 2013 - 22:11:25

by rhinoms

After last weekends supposed 'round of draws' where the top sides and bottom sides played amongst themselves, this weeks fixtures look like they could form the round of the big scorelines.

The only game which, prior to last weeks debacle, look like a close run thing on paper is the visit of Wigan to Headingley, in front of SKYs 3D cameras.

Lets hope that it doesn't turn into a 3D horror show as rhinoms previews this weekends fixtures.

Read more here....

It doesn't seem like a couple of weeks ago when we were longing for the new season to start but already we hit the Round seven stage.

Here are this weeks previews.

After the dismal and disjointed defeat at the hands of the Giants last week the defending Champs have another tough test at HQ.

Rat-boy and co arrive on the back of a thumping 38-0 win against the Dragons and will be confident given their recent excellent record at our place.

For the Blue 'n' Amber they have to improve across the park especially with the ball and we certainly cant afford such a lethargic game.

We proved at Saints we can handle big games post WCC so this is a perfect fixture to prove last week was a blip.

We know from last year having a decimated FR wont deter the visitors so we have to be firing on all cylinders and I think we will.

This could be a humdinger with both sides fired up but I expect a big response from the Champs and think we'll just grind out the win.

After a spirited draw away at Wakey the last thing the hosts needed was a game against the mis-firing Wire who have suffered back to back defeats.

The visitors will be really determined to win this one and TS will have them ready for a backlash.

Whilst the hosts showed some positives last week they really don't have the calibre to handle the visitors this week.

The hosts bounced back in style last week and will look to build on that when the "NEVER SAY DIE" team of SL visit Langtree Park.

This is a tough task for the visitors as the hosts seem to have finally found their mojo under coach Brown and we all know the damage they can do at home.

Although they will make it a battle and get stuck in I don't see the visitors having enough to trouble the result.

A decent game should be on offer but the home side have too much quality and now the confidence to match it.

The hosts were given a an old fashioned pasting at the pie-dome but at home they are tough to beat.

To be fair the 2013 Vikings are really showing a lot of guts, improvement and some quality if they aren't taken seriously.

However, saying that they have a couple of key injuries and their go to forward suspended which makes this a game too far in my opinion.

I think they visitors will get stuck in and make it a game but they don't have enough depth to get the win.

It's the "pretenders" trophy at the Tetley's stadium as both teams will go into this full of confidence after demolishing their respective opponents last week.

Having their "kicking General" back really boosts the hosts and gives them better shape at six & seven.

The visitors will hope to build on their nilling of Cas and get plenty of ball to the in form speedster Lineham out wide.

This could be a great game for the viewer but I think once again the visitors will be in it for an hour or so then run out of steam.

The Robins visit Odslum this week after another win last week whilst the hosts let a 16 point lead slip at Widnes.

This should be end to end with both showing some good attacking quality but also look very open defensively.

For me though the way the Nags opened the visitors up last week will give the hosts the edge because they certainly offer more threat than an ageing Gower and co.

Plenty of tries with some defensive woes for both but the host hold the extra 10% in this.

The visitors travel north hoping to catch the host as poor defensively as they were in Cods-vile last week.

Both teams are leaking pints but the hosts have the better performances and results overall.

The Nags may make it a game early on but for me they still cant perform for 80 minutes add to that the host will be determined to bounce back after last weeks pasting.

An improvement from both teams but the home side get the win this week.
