Posted by southstander on October 16 2012 - 14:54:33

Player of the Year

All season you have been voting for your weekly rounds Man of the Match.

After twenty-seven rounds of Superleague XVII we had a clear winner, and for the first time you have voted for a winger, who finished the season over ten points clear of his nearest rival.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Player of the Season 2012 is....Ryan Hall.

Read more here....

Our previous winners have been Robbie Mears (2001), Matt Diskin (2002), Matt Adamson (2003), Danny McGuire (2004 and 2010), Kevin Sinfield (2005, 2009 and 2011), Rob Burrow (2006 and 2007), Jamie Peacock (2008). Ryan now adds his name to that illustrious list and after six seasons in the Rhinos squad, the twenty-four year old has finally topped our chart.

Ryan adds the award to his; four Grand Final rings, World Club Challenge Winners medal and thirteen England caps.

Ryan played in all thirty-seven games that Rhinos competed in in 2012, including thirty-one games in Superleague, One in the World Club Challenge, and five in the Carnegie Challenge Cup. In total, the flying winger has scored 33 tries this season (132 points) and cemented his reputation as one of the best wingers in the country, if not the World.

In true Player of the Season style, Ryan scored a try in the clubs historic sixth Grand Final win at Old Trafford just ten days ago.

A worthy winner of our Player of the Season, Ryan adds his name to a list of Rhinos greats to have picked up the award in the twelve years since we inaugerated it.
