rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - PlayOffs I
Posted by southstander on September 13 2012 - 12:11:26

Twenty-seven weeks of regular rounds are now all done and forgotten. This is where the season starts for the eight teams left in the competition as we head into the play-offs.

Two teams will drop out this weekend while the others are simply jockeying for position.

How will our pundits predict this weekends games?

Read more here....

After 27 Super League rounds we finally reach the "Business" end of the season. Here are this weeks previews.

WARRIORS v. DRAGONS

After having their "Hub-cap" party crashed by their nearest rivals ST's last week expect a mean and fired up Pie mob.

For the Dragons they enter the play offs with some good wins behind them but this will be their toughest game of the year.

I expect plenty of fireworks when the two packs collide but I think the Pies have more quality out-wide and in the BR.

The Dragons should make a game of it but knowing they have a second bite should they lose could see them give up after an hour if they are a few scores behind.

It should be decent game but I don't see the Dragons having enough fire to burn the Crustys!

WOLVES v. SAINTS

The game of the weekend as second meets third at the Ikea flat-pack.

Both teams have quality across the board but after last years failure the much fancied home team will have that extra bite and after some smart squad rotation they in theory have the fresher team.

Having said that Play-off RL is what ST's do best and they have this inner belief that they will make the GF no matter the opponent that faces them.

This should be a belter and i doubt there'll be any holding back from either side despite both having a 2nd shot should they come up short.

The collisions across the park will be brutal ,fast and furious but for me the hosts hold the advantage out-wide.

The home side know that ST's hold a hoodoo over them but under TS that becomes less and less an issue.

The home side take if for me but in a humdinger.

RHINOS v. WILDCATS

This could be the upset of the series the visitors arrive as the form team of the SL on the back of seven straight wins one of which was a demolition job on the home team.

For our Blue 'n' Amber lads they must have had a lot of soul searching to do this week after a pathetic effort last time out despite playing against twelve men for well over an hour.

there's talk of Mags returning but a shift in attitude and application is more important and a return to the attitude that play-off RL is when we "go to work".

I still think we have enough quality to do a job on the visitors the question is firmly if we still have the mind-set and desire to do so?

After recent defeats and another Challenge Cup battering I think the lads will switch on and get the job done against a tough and determined opponent.

FC v. GIANTS

Both teams will be confident after some big wins but knock out RL increases the pressure.

The hosts haven't matched their owners gob and the visitors have lost 9/10 albeit bouncing back in style last week with twelve men.

This could be the most open of all the games with both defences leaking points and i expect an end to end encounter with a who blinks first outcome.

I do think though if the visitors can get in front then the home crowd will soon show discontent with their side and the whelks will go into their shells.

An entertaining game but an away win for me.
