rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 26
Posted by southstander on August 30 2012 - 16:37:51

by rhinoms

With just two round left in 2012, SouthStander.com is sitting atop the predictions league, thanks mostly to a stunning fortnight where he predicted four out of fourteen results spot on.

rhinoms is poised just outside the top eight, ready to strike for the play-offs.

It's all warming up, how will our pundits do this weekend?

Read more here....

As we enter the penultimate round of the regular SL season third to eighth is still to be decided as is the battle to avoid the wooden spoon.

Here are this weeks previews.

RHINOS v. REDS

The battered and bruised Rhinos need to shake off any hangover from their heavy CC loss and re-focus on the fight for a top 3 spot.

The Reds arrive with nothing to play for other than pride but we all know every team in the SL likes to raise their game and try and beat the Champs.

Surprisingly its the same nineteen that lost the CC final so hopefully there should be some sort of backlash.

It may take the first 25 minutes to get going but we should have too much quality for a team already looking to pre-season.

SAINTS v. BRONCOS

The hosts will be refreshed after a week off and determined to secure third ASAP.

Coach Rea will have his nags in confident mood after a quality win last time out but they wont have enough here against a ST's team with an objective.

It may be close for an hour but Saint's will open up and get the spoils in the last 20 for a comfortable win.

BULLS v. FC

Remarkably the WC squatters are still in the mix for a top eight place and playing the pretenders from Cods-vile should boost their confidence.

The visitors are way off from becoming the all conquering RL machine their big mouthed owner keeps declaring they will be and in all honesty coach Gentle and his Whelks should be embarrassed with his outbursts.

This should prove to be an entertaining game with a play off berth still on each clubs agenda but expect the momentum of the home side to be to much.

TIGERS v. DRAGONS

Stick a fork in basils hillbillies they're done and the wooden spoon is a distinct possibility.

The Dragons will be refreshed after returning to winning ways prior to the break and will be looking to get a firm grip on fourth spot whilst keeping the heat on Saints for third.

A stroll for the visitors and more misery for moon shiners!!

KR v. WARRIORS

The charge to secure top spot will be decided here as the Pies look to seal the Hub-Cap.

The hosts have been so close in so many games but blown too many chances to get into the eight and their coach has spent too much time whinging rather than sorting out his teams problems.

The hosts should be competitive but wont be good enough to cause an upset.

WILDCATS v. VIKINGS

The form team of SL entertain the Vikings with a top 8 spot firmly in their sights.

The Visitors really are a Jekyll and Hyde team this year so expect the unexpected but the Puddy Cats really are showing their claws during a five in a row winning streak.

The visitors are desperate to avoid the wooden spoon and the hosts are fighting for eighth place so it should be an end to end game.

For me Coach Agar should be in the running for the COTY award if they make the eight and I think they will.

WOLVES v. GIANTS

The victorious Cup winners return home to face a stuttering Giants outfit struggling to get some winning form together for the play offs.

TS knows he has 2nd sown up so may rest some of his Wembley heroes but will expect a better effort than in the capital pre-Wembley.

The double is on and the Wolves will be looking to keep their winning run and feel good factor going for as long as possible which points to a tough night for the visitors.
