rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 24
Posted by southstander on August 09 2012 - 15:04:13

by rhinoms

It was a mixed weekend for our predictors. rhinoms failed to predict two outcomes correctly, with the Reds defeat at London and Dragons loss at the Giants not spotted.

SouthStander only managed three right and will be hoping for much better this week.

Read more here....

This week its Round twenty-four and time is running out for some teams to get a place in the top eight.

Here are this weeks previews.

RHINOS v. VIKINGS

The Champs return to HQ after a narrow win in the Red half of cods-vile last week.

The fast improving visitors went close last week and will hope to catch the hosts of guard and with one eye on Wembley.

With the CC final 2 wks away the hosts should be looking to lift the intensity and begin their build up with a convincing performance.

I think the visitors will miss the influence of the on loan Mcshane (banned) but i dont think they'll be as easy to beat as earlier in the year.

Hopefully the hosts will hit the ground running and in full flow and put this game to bed early but i expect a couple of in game blips but the win should be secured.

REDS v. GIANTS

The Reds have really hit a wall and their top eight hopes are all over so its pride only at stake for them.

The Giants have timed their return to winning ways just about right and they should have plenty of confidence going into this one.

A team with little to play for are always dangerous especially at home so whilst the visitors will be confident they cant take the result for granted.

A decent battle but the extra quality and having something to play for will se the Giants take the points.

BULLS v. KR

The Red Mullets are this weeks visitors to RFL balti bowl.

As the saga rumbles on and on Coach Potter is at the end of his tether and this could be his last game in charge.

You can only run on adrenaline so long and i see the hosts is running out especially after the points deduction and still no takeover.

The home side will get stuck in because it's what RL teams do but i think the visitors will have more desperation after their one point defeat last week in a game they were controlling at half time.

Some big hits and an end to end match in prospect but the visitors have too much quality and the hosts are running on empty.

WOLVES v. WARRIORS

The game of the round at the HJ.

The battle for top spot is purely between these two and after beating the plastic scousers last week the home side will be extremely confident this week.

After another training run at the Pie dome Hock of the dead and co will get real test this week and i think it will be a belter.

TS will have his team primed for this and expect no tinkering with selection in this no holds barred encounter.

A cracking match and some great battles all over the park but i think home advantage and the tough fixture last week will give the Wolves the bite they need.

TIGERS v. BRONCOS

The most pointless game of the weekend involving both teams who can't wait for the season to end.

After another battering the fiddles duelling days are over for 2012 and cotton eyed joe is locked in the barn.

Coach Rea has improved his team a lot quicker than many thought he would me included and they arrive on the back of the biggest comeback in SL history.

Another loss for Sheriff basil and his six fingered posse.

FC v. DRAGONS

This week the "Mouth of Humber" Pearsons pretenders welcome the Dragons. After a shock defeat last week Trent Robinson will demand to see his Dragons fire once more as they come under pressure for fourth spot.

Who knows what to expect from the hosts but no doubt it will include a clueless owner telling everyone and anyone how his team will dominate SL blah blah.

Expect the usual "excuses" at full time after another defeat for Gentles over-rated and never will be's.

WILDCATS v. SAINTS

The on fire hosts welcome the wounded scousers this week and will be extremely confident.

For Roby and co its a case of bouncing back after a comprehensive loss last week.

After blasting their local rivals the Puddy Cats will have their eyes on the top 8 and the inspirational Tim Smith and co could just well do it.

Unfortunately they face a ST's team on the back of a loss and that's never good especially with 3rd place in their grasp.

I think Wakey will stand up and have a dig no doubts at all but that bit of quality and pace comes from the visitors.v ST's by 18.
