rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 23
Posted by southstander on August 02 2012 - 12:34:15

by rhinoms

In round twenty-two rhinoms acquitted himself well with six out of seven winners predicted correctly, being let down by just the Rhinos at Wakefield.

SouthStander.com failed to get the Wakefield win, and the win by KR over the Vikings.

This week we hit Round 23 and places are still up for grabs within the top eight whilst the battle to avoid the wooden spoon is hotting up!

WARRIORS v. FC

This week Gentle takes his pretenders to the Pie Dome hoping to cash in on the Rhinos defeat at Wakey.

The Pies are back into the "Winning Machine" mode after their CC exit and this will be no different.

Whilst Gentle will no doubt have his Cods ready for war they don't have enough skill, strength or sole.

It should be a decent match for the neutral but ultimately Rat-Boy ,Hock of the dead and their Pie chums will have far too much filling and take the points.

BRONCOS v. REDS

After a narrow loss last week both sides will be hoping to go one better this time out.

For the Nags Rae has had a bigger impact a lot sooner than I expected with a credible effort in France last week whilst the Reds were undone in Cods-ville.

Both sides have something to play for but the visitors should have just too much for the hosts but saying that if they recall old "Cyclops" that smacks of desperation and could hand the hosts a boost.

The Nags will compete and about time too but i think the Reds have more points in them this week.

BULLS v. VIKINGS

No means No is the message to the "sesame street" ABC consortium and so the farce continues at the SL ditch!!

This week the much improved Vikings are the visitors and will hope to challenge the "running on empty" home side.

Potter has really done his magic not least since all this financial meltdown started but you can only go so far on guts and defiance.

The "gargling" Betts will see this as a great chance for his team to take the points but they still aren't good enough defensively away from home.

This could be quite an entertaining end to end game but the home side have too much Beef this week.

TIGERS v. WILDCATS

Its the "wrong turn" derby in rock-ridge this week and its one that the hosts are desperate to win.

Agars Puddy Cats will be buzzing after destroying a lacklustre Rhinos team on monday when even Sykes looked decent.

The hosts have lost another of their squad with the over-rated Ferres jumping from one club in decline to another at the Giants.

This should as fierce as always and sheriff basil will hope his Banjos dual better than the visitors but the quality is with the Wildcats.

No moonshine, no cotton eyed joe just another painful defeat for the locals.

GIANTS v. DRAGONS

After they were demolished at ST's last week the home side meet another "Contender" this time at the newly named John Smiths stadium but just as last week they'll be left feeling "Bitter".

The Dragons were caught out by how competitive the Nags were last week so expect a fully focussed team this week.

The hosts are just in freefall after been found out and players trying to coach as well as play.

Expect the home Fartowners crowd to lift the Giants in performance levels but nowhere near to a level good enough this week.

KR v. RHINOS

A renowned tough away fixture for the Champs this week on the back of a battering and poor defensive effort last time out.

The hosts still have sights on the top eight and they know how to beat the Rhinos on their own patch.

The visitors really have to man up in the pack against a big Robins outfit and then also stop Dobson and Green creating on the fringes.

The return of Mcguire ,the absence of "mind fart" Webb will actually see the Rhinos more balanced and taking last weeks defeat into account they will be more determined with Wembley places up for grabs.

A tough game but the quality of the Champs should see them home on the front foot in a bruising encounter.

SAINTS v. WOLVES

The game of the weekend and a chance for the hosts to close the gap on one of the top two.

Not only have their performances gone up 100% since Rush and Cunningham took over the old ST's "spawny gits" is back on track also.

For the Wire they've continued to chop and change their squad as TS made sure his ageing quality got plenty of rest.

This week the visitors need to bring their best both in selection and performance to take the spoils away from the Rampant Roby and co.

This promises to be one of the games of the year with both teams having genuine quality and consistency in their ranks.

A thriller in store but i think the rotation and quality of the visitors will be enough to take the points.
