rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 18
Posted by southstander on June 21 2012 - 11:39:43

The last round of Super League was full of shocks with Castleford and London winning while the Giants got beaten by Hull KR.

TadRhino stepped into the predicting breach and managed to get four out of seven outcomes correct while only managed three from seven.

Will they do any better this week?

After the "monsoon" first match of the Exiles series, and a Rhinos victory in the re-arranged Wakefield fixture we return to a full round of Super League fixtures this weekend.

Here are this weeks previews.

After a dissapointing loss at Basils tiggers the home team will be looking to re-group for another challenge for the 8th spot.

This week they face a ST's team who will be refreshed and full of confidence after signing off with a nilling and a 50 point win last time out.

The home team are capable of pulling off shock wins and looking like genuine top 8 contenders but they can also implode and lack consistency.

I think the visitors will be just too strong and determined and the best the home side can hope for is a battling display with positives to build on for the week after.

A potentially good game at the Robins ground this week.

the hosts are going from strength to strength whilst the visitors are hitting a mid season blip.

2 big packs and some real quality HB's will do battle and confidence will be vital which at thios moment in time points to a home win.

The visitors are more than capable of winning but they'll need to stay composed and not let their heads drop should they go behind or errors prove costly.

I'm sure the Dragons will be fired up and improve but the hosts are showing real mussle and plenty of sole and with Dobson directing them around they'll take the points.

This week the puddy cats visit the RFL out-door latrine.

the doom and gloom grows ever deeper over the "Greece" of SL and the locals still don't know who's telling porkies and why Nick Leeson is doing the books.

The visitors will take plenty of positives out of their narrow defeat at HQ last time out where their attack functioned perfectly so i think there'll be plenty of "defensive prep" prior to this game.

the hosst are on the back of a 50+ drubbing and the consistent stream of "great news" wise will do no good to take the sting out of that loss.

Adversity really does help sports teams/clubs pull together and do the unlikely at ttimes but this is one kick in the sweet-breads too many.

An improved effort but not good enough for the home side.

Once again we hit June and the Giants hit the wall.

The home-side are omce agian ina form slump and their title of SL pretenders sticks that little bit longer.

The visitors actually won the basement battle last time out and should arrive with some confidence although how long that will last remains to be seen.

The Giants will be fired up and determined to get back into the winning habit and luckily the fixture gods have sent them a sacrifice. A training run for the home side and absolutely no Buck from the nags.

Another chance for the desperate Champs to regain some momentum and confidence after consistent dire performances and some big defeats.

After mondays exploits surely the defence can only get beter against a Cas team who edged a battle against the Reds last time out.

Time to start showing the "Real Rhinos" or at the very least show that we are on the up.

Basils web-footed mob will be hoping to get us feeling down and lacking confidence but we should be fired up for this and start the charge back up the table at basils expence.

It may not be vintage Blue 'n' Amber but once again it's a win that counts and the host should have enough to get the points.

This week the genuine contenders welcome another bunch of pretenders who talk too loud and have nothing to say.

TS will have his team primed for a better timed P/O push this year and this scalp will be another happy cruise.

More moaning for Gentle and more mouthing off from their clueless owner.

They may do better than the champs did theRE but the end result will remain the same.

Finally the game all the pies were desperate for after their shocking loss last time they met Yet another TV worm burpin-a-fon for some to get giddy about.

Of course it will be world Class this and the usual second stanza, little chip over the top.
