The Damo Bit - 13th March 2012
Posted by southstander on March 13 2012 - 09:02:18

We all know about our Damos dislike of the pie-eating rugby fans and after last weeks historic and humiliating mis-judgement by Wigan coach Wane, it has been impossible for him to bite his tongue.

I'd suggest that Wigan fans resist the urge to read on, everyone else, fill your boots.

Wigan Warriors continue to meddle with the spirit of Super League and fans shouldnít take it any more. The dark entity from Lancashire didnít just merely lose a game against Widnes Vikings at the weekend; no, Wigan once again took our wonderful sport to a new low by treating a fellow group of men with utter contempt. This has to be one of the most disgraceful courses of action Iíve ever seen taken in professional sport throughout all of my young life so far.

If things are to improve drastically then the RFL must go on a mission of mercy to cleanse the primal evil that started to take root in the mid-eighties at Wigan. This can be done by wiping out all the trophies and records that the club has had since those dark beginnings decades ago. It will do Wigan, along with the sport, a world of good because Iím sick to death of their players living off history rather than creating it. This history is nothing but a burden all round and has bred complacency.

Unfortunately a majority of rugby league fans wonít be put out of their misery any time soon and will have to put up with all the wrongdoing forever. From now on Iím not going to get emotionally involved with rugby league because itís leaving me angry and resentful. I shall just indulge myself in becoming a spectator and enjoy the whole charade to the best that I can. Iíll still be writing down everything that I witness with my own eyes, but theyíll be no judgement.

I do look forward to enjoying a fulfilling future where I ignorantly embrace Super League and all of its flaws. Iím sure itíll be a better way to live than opposing Wigan and everything to do with them all the time. Itíll probably take a while to completely get rid of these underlying feelings about them, but itís all a part of growing up. Iíve acknowledged my problem (the RFL will probably never acknowledge theirs) and thatís the first step to sanity.
