rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 6
Posted by southstander on March 08 2012 - 07:15:47

by rhinoms

A much better week for our tipsters in round 5.

Rhinoms predicted the winners of all seven games correctly whilst SouthStander.com was just let down by the Giants narrow win over the Saints. That game also saw the average prediction being bang on, Giants by one point.

Maybe they do know something after all?

This week we enter Round 5 of the Super League and one fixture stands out. The Wires visit to Headingley.

Here are this weeks Previews.

RHINOS v. WOLVES

The game of the round takes place at HQ this week when TS brings his highly rated Wolves team to town.

This is the first home game since the Blue 'n' Amber won the WCC and the first meeting between these two since "THAT GAME" in last years GF eliminator.

Both teams have quality sat in their respective treatment rooms but saying that there's still stacks of quality and potential on show.

Once again the visitors have started the season unbeaten and have racked up the tries in some games.

The hosts have also started well with the blip at Wigan the only time they've dropped points whilst also winning the WCC against a quality fired up manly team.

This promises to be one of the games of the season already and expect plenty of end-to-end RL, brutal collisions and a "last man standing" approach from both squads.

A great game in prospect but the Rhinos are starting their charge to the top three early this year.

SAINTS v. FC

Already the hosts have lost back to back close games and the questions are getting asked re-KFC's departure and lack of replacement.

This week the "Gentle Touch" trawls into town on the back of a scrappy win against the Wildcats last time out.

A huge blow to the plastic scousers is the absence of "Machine" Roby, which will test their squad depth at 9.

The visitors have been grinding yet unspectacular and they will see this as a great chance to take a notable scalp this early after getting an opening day point against Wire.

Another tough game and the hosts will be feeling the pressure not to lose three in a row (Not Grand Finals's this time).

I still think the visitors are short on real quality and even missing their talisman the hosts will have too much mussle and take the spoils.

DRAGONS v. REDS

Both teams will be pretty confident going into this match and although well beaten at the Pie-dome the hosts know they have the quality to win this one. A real tough test for the resurgent Reds and one they'll be looking to meet head on after going 3 from 5 in the win column.

As good as the Reds may have been I don't think they have enough up front to tame the hosts huge pack.

Not the hiding many may predict for the visitors but they'll still fall short for me.

KR v. BULLS

The much improved visitors enter the red half of cods-vile this week and will be confident as their wins thus far have come away from the RFL's outside Bog.

The hosts will be looking to build on the nilling of SL whipping boys Widnes last time out and having their 6 and 7 back will be key.

The home team are looking much stronger this year and will have more than enough to take care of the visitors improved form.

I think this could be a grind-fest for the first 50 or so then the hosts superior class will take the points.

BRONCOS v. TIGERS

A game both sides desperately need to win to get their season going. For the home team it just isn't happening this year despite signing some decent players during the winter.

Cas have hit a wall after an opening night win and then suffering off field tragedy.

Although improve efforts were there last week the visitors still lost by over 20 and that's where they need to sharpen up.

The hosts need to sharpen everything and try to put together a solid 80 minute performance or coach Powell will be nearer to becoming the first coaching casualty of the year.

This has all the signs it will be a nervous affair with both teams more scared of losing than trying to win but I think the better finishing from the Waltons will get the spoils.

Dust off the moonshine and toast an away win.

WILDCATS v. GIANTS

A huge test for Wakey this week after coming so close in cods-ville last week.

The visitors arrive brimming with confidence after a dramatic one point win against ST's last time.

Coach Agar will hope his team can build and improve with and without the ball this week and there are a few amongst the home ranks looking to prove a point to the visiting Coaching staff.

If the visitors maintain their composure they should have just too much skill ,pace and power for the home team to handle.

Again I think this will be closer than many predict but that extra quality with the Giants ranks will see them take the points.

VIKINGS v. WARRIORS

This week it's Rat by and co who will rack up the 'plus' column in the points bracket.

Poor coach ,poor team and this week another gulf in class on show.

Maybe the penny will drop after this and the home side will go out and sign a coach who can improve them or at the very least organize them into a SL team.

Another "training run" with the visitors not getting out of 2nd gear for the win.
