rhinoms Superleague XVII Previews - Round 4
Posted by southstander on February 23 2012 - 09:19:32

by rhinoms

Last weeks predictions saw rhinoms correctly predict six out seven winners while SouthStander.com picked five from seven. Neither of our pundits spotted the draw between Hull KR and Saints, but SouthStander.com did get the eight point winning margin for Catalans over Castleford spot on.

What do our pundits think to an interesting looking round four?

Already we arrive at round four of the new season the snow has gone but the great I-Pitch debate goes on.

As we enter the weekend SL has the bragging rights over the NRL after the Rhinos thrilling win against Manly now we get back to SL business.

Here are this weeks previews.

REDS v. FC

After finally getting their first win against the 2012 whipping boys the Reds will hope to gain back to back wins against the Cods who are hit by injury and suspension.

The hosts seem to be "as you were" thus far with the good ,bad and Bulls all thrown into their 3 performances this year.

The visitors looked pretty sharp against a poor London team until they were reduced to 12 men so it's still too early to sense how they'll play or improve this year.

It could prove to be an entertaining game but even missing 2/3 the visitors won't clam up and have too much to crab the points.

SAINTS v. DRAGONS

The game of the weekend at "light fingered" park when the high flying Dragons arrive.

With both teams unbeaten and looking to find their stride early this should be a humdinger especially as Dragons coach has finally done what SL couldn't do he's found Leon 'I don't do October' Pryce!

The hosts pack will be really tested without the KFC kid and Dereau along with Bosc etc will bring enough quality to the home defence honest and on it's toes.

The young gun halves at St's will need to be sharp and at their best and I doubt the team will get away the sloppy defence witnessed last week.

The vistors will really get stuck in and look to burn the hosts early but I think ST's will just have enough at home to pick the Dragons pockets.

WILDCATS . BULLS

The hosts will be nice and fresh and sharper after their enforced week off. The visitors will be trying to get back to winning ways after showing their true talent last week after getting " flushed" at the RFL WC.

Another entertaining game in prospect especially for the home faithful who will expect the points this week.

Whispering Potter really needs to raise his voice or expect another season in the Dumps.

Expect the visitors to compete more this week but the hosts will have their claws on the points come full time.

TIGERS v. WARRIORS

Tragically this game will be last thing on the minds of the home team after last weeks tragic events.

The visitors are starting to look as good as the fans think they are and will be totally confident of sinking Cas and their former coach.

The home team have done ok but need to dig in more and show the resolve and structure they did in week one or it could be a long day.

A tough day for the home-team who will try hard but come up short.

BRONCOS v. GIANTS

The tough matches come thick and fast for the home side.

This week the visitors will be seething after losing at home last week and they arrive looking to stomp all over the hosts.

The home-team just can't get enough quality or link up play for any sustained amount of time and really look like 17 strangers thrown together.

With Pug Robinson, Fat Robbie Savage and Mascot Brough the Giants have too much for a ragged Broncos outfit.

WOLVES v. KR

The home-team will be looking to build on their tough away win last week when they entertain the Red Mullets.

The visitors are Buoyed by getting a draw against the scousers last week especially missing their 6 and 7.

The home pack have a real challenge this week with messrs Paea and Mika continuing their destructive start to the season.

A game too far for the visitors who without their 6 and 7 will be unable to capitilise on any work their tough pack produce.

VIKINGS v. RHINOS

The new boys entertain the World Club Champs this week.

After another pasting gonad gargling Betts is running out of gravel to spit out as excuses.

The visitors arrive after a tough and thrilling well-deserved cup win but expect changes.

Missing the machine Jib and possibly looking to rotate one or two the visitors 17 will be adjusted somewhat.

For the hosts and their I-pitch the novelty of playing the best should raise their intensity and adrenalin.

It may not be a vintage Blue 'n' Amber performance but they have far too much pace and power for the hosts.
