Finally we are back and the 1st round of the new season starts this weekend.
A new season, new grounds, some new stars and brand new optimism for the
As we start the new season we find out that the RFL having learned from
their failed Welsh investment, have gone into the outside amenities market by
purchasing a big outside toilet in Bradford!!
Here are my thoughts on the upcoming fixtures.
Rhinos v. KR
The defending Champs start at HQ against a Rovers team under new Management
but still a squad lacking depth which will be exposed by the missing Green
The Blue 'n' Amber start the "dawn of a new era" with stalwarts like Senior
and Big Ali not at the club.
What we do have is as a youthful, exciting back line with the potential to
set the SL alight and also we could have the surprise package and bargain of
the year in Moore who has shone more than his bonce in pre-season.
With preparations for the visit of Manly underway it's crucial the team
starts well and on the same page and all the signs thus far are positive.
Expect the usual early season battle type effort from the visitors but the
home team look too sharp.
A hard fought home win leaving new coach Sandercock swimming with his

VIKINGS v. WILDCATS
We welcome a sleeping Giant back into the SL fold with the return of the
This is also the opener for the new SKY coverage (scratches head).
Both teams will enter this game hoping that their new look teams can gel
early and get a confidence boosting 2 pts on the board.
Both teams have over-hauled their squads in big numbers with the sprinkling
of ageing quality, some potential and of course the usual journymen.
2 Coaches with a point to prove for more or less the same reason that they
are capable of coaching in SL and doing it well.
Unfortunately both clubs Achilles heel are their respective coaches.
A fiery encounter and hopefully an entertaining one but not a happy start
for the hosts.

BRONCOS v. SAINTS
A new start and a new name for the London franchise who revert to their
"Broncos" label and also intend on taking games away from their union base.
A tricky start for our GF whipping boys as we all know the hosts do tend to
start the season well.
I can see some decent additions to the hosts squad especially the arrivals
from NRL premiers Manly but it doesn't shore up the other areas of weakness
within the squad.
For the plastic scouser it's gonna be a test to see if they'll miss the
"KFC" kid and who they expect to step up.
The new young Scouse Chavs should have too much for the hosts but expect
them to be tested.

REDS v. TIGERS
Both teams have a new Coach and the hosts open their new ground in front of
the Saturday Sky cameras (scratches head).
The wagon train arrives and there's a new Sherriff in town for the Walton
boys to listen to and it's Basil (lock up your cheerleaders) Millward.
Both squads lack depth but at least the visitors have some good youth to
call upon who been 1 yr wiser should be good enough to at least challenge
for the top 8 again.
I expect the hosts to repeat last years efforts the odd good result but more
woe than joy.
It could be a decent game but the home side don't look good enough to me (so
watch them win by 20+).

BULLS v. DRAGONS
The Dragons are the 1st visitors to the RFL's big new shiny outside crapper.
The hosts have again brought in a number of new players, of course the
locals are again optimistic (gluttons for punishment) and they also have the
novelty of 2 Captains!!
The visitors really did well once they got round to coach Robinsons way of
thinking and the Generals of Bosc and Durieu leading them around they will
be a threat again.
The hosts will again lose more than they win but expect the odd "fluke" and
the usual sound-bites from Potter the mouse.
A clash that could have some niggle after last years meeting and Ferriols
The visitors will be Too big and too strong for the hosts this week.

FC v. WOLVES
Last seasons (cough splutter) cho....league leaders return from pre-season
down under and visit Cods-ville.
The hosts were bouyent after destroying a pathetic Dulls in Radfords
testimonial and will be hoping to net an opening game win.
The visitors arrive without Fatty-mona who broke his leg doing a bleep test
on they way to Greggs.
The hosts did well against the Wolves last year and will be confident but TS
and his ageing team will be wounded after last years Play-Off exit.
This could be a cracking game and has "SKY" surely written all over it....no
A real battle in prospect and a close game but the visitors just have that
bit more bite.

WARRIORS v. GIANTS
Potentially the game of the round at the Pie-Dome this week and surely a
game for SKY!!......no (Scratches head).
The Giants arrive in Pie land already under an injury cloud missing props,
back-rowers and looking patched up.
The hosts start their new season under a new regime with Maguire wrestled
away down under and replaced by his assistant Wane.
Both teams will be hoping for a GF push this year and of course the crustys
will have their own Sky cheerleading team for Rat-boy and his chums.
The visitors would have a much better chance with even half their 1st choice
FR and BR but the hosts also have been weakened by Hoffman's departure and
the arrival of SL pudding extraordinaire Luaki.
A tough game for both teams but the [pies will have too much pastry in the
