The only regret I have reading Keith Seniors autobiography ĎThe Bald Truthí is that I read it too early. At times itís a bit like a long winded version of his official souvenir brochure, the one which came out during his testimonial year at the Leeds Rhinos. However, Iím sure that many years down the line this kind of book is one that Iíll gain immense pleasure from reading again. At the end of the day we all like a bit of nostalgia and thatís what both these publications are going to be. But being the instant gratification fools that we are Iím sure that many like myself will read this book as soon as possible.
For me Keith Senior has been my favourite Leeds Rhinos player to watch whilst growing up. He came to the club just when I started to take a weekly interest as a spectator, and yes, I was one of those fans who gave him a bit of grief on the terrace. However I couldnít really help it when I was taken to the games by someone who could easily be mistaken for Alf Garnett or Keith Swiftcorns long lost relative. But Senior became fantastic to watch in the long run and thatís why, for me, entertainment wise heís been Leeds Rhinos best ever Superleague signing.
Back to the book, and since itís the off season I think Iíll focus on the bloke who buyís Keith Seniors sweaty socks. Iím sure the imagination can take you off to some pretty dark places when you think about what this bloke must do with them. I donít know if any of you have seen the American Pie films but that was the first thing that came to mind when reading the beginning of the E-bay chapter. If Keithís socks can go for £20 then god knows how much Kevin Sinfields socks would go for. When Keith is back from injury he should get this bloke in the changing rooms at the end of a match because Iím sure he could raise the price up a couple of quid this way.
Finally for anyone whoís reading this then please get the book. Itíll be a great read for yourself or someone else who can find it under the tree on Christmas day. Thanks for everything Keith and I do hope to see you in Blue and Amber again if your desire is right.
