rhinoms Superleague XVI Previews - Round 25
Posted by southstander on August 18 2011 - 10:38:57

by rhinoms

Leeds are still not guaranteed a finish in the top eight with Hull KR still mathematically able to get past us if they win all their remaining games and we lose all ours.

On the other hand, should Huddersfield and Catalans continue to slip up there is a chance that we'll be going to the Galpharm Stadium on the last afternoon of the season needing a win for a finish in fourth spot.

It's still all up for grabs.

Read more here....

With just 3 games to go the top 8 is still not finalized and the race for first is getting tastier.

Here are this weeks previews.

REDS v. GIANTS

A real tricky fixture for the Giants who are up and down form wise. The hosts are yet to show any kind of encouraging form for new coach Parish that makes them pretty dangerous especially when you add in that they are soon to leave their Willows ground.

Time for the Giants to re-ignite their top 4 credentials and leave the chasing pack battling for 5th downwards and expect the Mono-Brow, Fat Robbie Savage and the Astra Thief to get the job done.

A reasonable effort from the home team but they are already planning for 2012 and a new home.

WARRIORS v. BULLS

More "opposed training" for the Rat-Boy and his sooper dooper invincible crusty chums.

The hosts will be far too strong for Potters wands and he'll just be happy to avoid any disgruntled fans wanting to tell him like it is.

The 1st 20 minutes may be competitive but after that expect a Pie cruise and the Pot-Hole pub team to duly lay down and take the defeat that's coming.

A non-contest and more worm burping material for Clarke and co.

DRAGONS v. WOLVES

A tough task for the hosts this week after a shock hiding down in cods-vile lat week.

The free scoring Wire are in town and although TS has had a little chelp that he's lost 1 or 2 players they still have bought enough depth to cope. This being a home tie should swing it in the Dragons favour especially wit the 95 degree heat wave forecast but I think Wire will have too much bite and determination in their hunt for top spot.

A tough old fashioned bruiser in store but expect Wire to have just enough flair to get the points.

QUINS v. RHINOS

An early M1 trip this week for the Blue 'n' Amber as we head sarf to face the misfits and unloved of SL.

Many have voiced their opinions on how we should approach this weekends match who to rest who not to etc etc.

The key here is that we are still battling for 5th spot even though the CC has to be priority given our SL season thus far.

Expect most of the Wembley 17 to be selected as long as they aren't carrying niggles and are fully focused.

The Quinns started their season well and got us off guard at HQ now I expect us to re-gain those 2 dropped points.

WILDCATS v TIGERS

The big "Waltons" Derby takes place this week and the hosts will be looking to stick the boot into their 6 fingered cousins top 8 ambitions.

The spittoons will be over-flowing, the beans and moonshine will be in abundance and there'll be no love lost between cousins when the banjoes and fiddles get started.

Expect the match to replicate the final scenes of Blazing Saddles Terry "Headley le-mar" Mattersons mob trying to over-throw the yokels.

Although they'll have "Mongo" Mcgoldrick and co the Tiggers are done after their CC exit and the hiding they got off their big city neighbours.

A valiant effort by John "Wako Kid" Kear and co.

CRUSADERS v. FC

Some great recent efforts by the soon to be deceased SL franchise won't be enough this week.

Birds eye Agar will have his Whelks full of sole and ready to mussle up for their trawl into the top 8.

A decent effort but no cigar for the plastic taffs.

KR v. SAINTS

Having kept their top 8 dreams alive at Odslum last time out this week the Red Mullets face a St's team looking to build momentum for the play offs. Out of the 2 Humberside reefs the Red half have the toughest run in and this will prove their undoing.

Although confident the hosts don't have enough quality or consistency this year and their coach will leave without a play off berth.

A tough encounter but the scousers will leave the hosts with their pockets picked.
