rhinoms Superleague XVI Previews - Round 23

After a week off for the Challenge Cup our previewer is back with his thoughts about Round 23.

We're on the countdown to the play-offs, but who will be finishing in the top eight? And where will they finish?

This weekend will go some way to answering these questions.

Read more here....

As we enter the final straight the fight for play off places is still in full flight.

Here are my thoughts on this weeks fixtures.

This week the Pies visit the Reef and Sponge bob will hoping his plankton can show it's sole and mussle up to keep their season alive.

The Pies will be still high on confidence after last weeks CC exploits and they could rest a few with one eye on next weeks semi against their bitter rivals.

This could prove to be a tough game with both teams fighting for play off spots but with different finishing slots in sight.

Expect a fired up home shoal after 2 consecutive spankings by the Rhinos but it won't be enough to knock the crust off the visitors.

The Blue 'n' Amber make their last visit to the willows this week hoping to maintain the momentum 2 wins on the bounce has created.

The hosts will be hoping to end their home SL hoodoo against the visitors and finally get a win and give their new coach something to build on.

There could be a defeat in store here if the visitors have 1 eye on next week's cup semi so focus will be key.

It's the final visit to Willows for the Blue 'n' Amber and no doubt memories of the Chris Sanderson tragedy will surface so spare a thought for a lost Loiner.

A potential banana skin awaits us but the teams hunger for CC semi places will be enough to get us through.

Two of the CC semi finalists meet at the "Rock Ridge probiz jungle down't lane colon" this week.

With so much still to play for and both squads having many injuries I can't see either team gambling on resting too many players.

The shell-suited hosts are pushing for a top 2 spot whilst the Web Footed hosts are desperate to hold onto 6th.

Both teams are confident and come into the game on the back of great wins but Fagins scousers should have too much quality so the banjoes remained boxed and the moonshine on ice.

How fate has conspired this week one team on it's way to the championship and one retains its franchise amongst heated debate.

Not what many thought though and the puddy cats get a 3yr reprieve after the Crusaders finally crumbled and their SL bid without substance and finance had to be withdrawn.

The home crowd will be in party atmosphere and the home team will get a huge lift after looking like they'd fizzled out for this year.

The visitors arrive not even knowing if they will get paid and their futures uncertain so the last thing they'll want or need is facing the team that survived at their expense .

A much needed win in store for JK and co and the season needs to end now for the failed welsh franchise.

If there was 1 team Potters wands needed to avoid this week then it was Wire away.

The visitors have had the week off to celebrate their drubbing of the Giants but now they'll come back down to earth with a bang.

Expect the hosts to be fired up for this and looking to put their cup exit behind them by pushing for the top spot.

This could get messy and no amount of confidence or remembering their big win last time out will help the bull s#8t this week.

Morgans Mullets visit the Galpharm this week desperate to keep their season going after a CC mauling.

The hosts will be fired up after their cup exit and determined to maintain their grip on 4th spot.

The season can't finish quickly enough for the Reds half of cods ville because they won't threaten the play offs and rumours of the coach departing are gathering momentum.

Coach Brown will want his side to prove their SL bubble hasn't burst and that they remain a real threat this year despite their recent indifferent form.

The home team will prove too strong and send the visitors trawling home pointless.

A chance for the Dragons to maintain their charge this week as the whipping boys cross the channel in this "expansion derby".

Another coach who can't wait for the season to end is London rookie coach Powell who's promising start has disintegrated.

The visitors won't be helped by the announced exodus of most of their squad and the young coach will want the year to end so his planning can start for next year asap.

The hosts will be looking to build their momentum and cement a top 5 spot. Too big, fast and skillful this could get messy for the jellied eels.
