rhinoms Superleague XVI Previews - Round 18

The Rhinos are off to Wales to try and extend their winning run to two games against a side they've already beaten twice so far in 2011.

Oh, and Saints play the Warriors!

Read more here....

As we enter the final 10 fixtures of the SL season the race for the top 8 is still far from decided. Here are my thoughts on this weeks fixtures.

CRUSADERS v. RHINOS

The Rhinos head into Wales in good spirits after a convincing win last time out against a poor HKR side.

The hosts will be desperate to build on a gutsy effort in the Dragons den and break their losing streak.

This game should represent another chance for the Blue 'n' Amber to build confidence after recent maulings against top 4 teams.

A really steep learning curve for coach Harris and his plastic taffs doesn't get any easier this week another spirited effort but not enough for a win.

REDS v. TIGERS

Two teams full of confidence meet this week as the Wagon train heads West to the Willows.

The inconsistent hosts secured a great win away at the Wire whilst the Banjo pluckers were getting a point against the Pies.

This could prove to be an entertaining clash with both sides confident and desperate for a top 8 spot.

I think the "up and down" Reds will be a test for the 6-fingered visitors but won't have enough to stop the "cotton eyed jo" hoe down.

SAINTS v. WARRIORS

A big derby in Widnes where the shell suited light-fingered hosts entertain the crusty Pies.

This should be a cracker with some great battles all over the pitch FGB V "Angel" Lima, Blue Circle Wellens V Booooo Rat Boy and Young Gun Lomax V Jurassic Deacon.

Expect fireworks and plenty of ill feeling but it's who is the coolest who'll take the spoils and lets be honest the coolest thing to come out of Pie-ville is the ice-cream van on it's way to St Helens.

A brutal encounter but the Pies will be left on bricks and without Gravy.

QUINS v. WILDCATS

A great chance for JK's unloved to get back to back SL wins this week. For the hosts the joy of getting rid of coach Mc has been overshadowed by 1 defeat after another.

The season can't end soon enough for the Pearly Kings of SL but for the visitors they are loving ripping up the form books and proving to be the team of the year.

A close call for the hosts but not close enough as JK proves that team spirit, Hunger and getting written off are great motivational tools in RL.

GIANTS v. DRAGONS

Revenge will be on the agenda for the hosts this week.

The visitors really have momentum and confidence and are far from the Garlic munching surrender monkeys they used to be.

After failing their 1st real test without Mono-Brow, Astra Thief, FAT Robbie Savage and Pug Robinson will be eager to prove they aren't a 1 man team.

The Dragons will prove to be tough test and with General Dureau pulling the strings they'll be a real threat but I think home advantage just swings it the hosts way.

KR v. WOLVES

The limp Willies of Red Cods-vile host the joint leaders this week and they are facing a crisis of confidence and the pressure is growing on coach Morgan.

If the fixture isn't hard enough TS arrives with his team in a bad mood after a home loss last time out and that makes them even more dangerous. Do the hosts have the Sole for a battle? Can Morgan stem the tide and prevent his team getting out mussled and net a win?

Absolutely not the Wire will show their bite and "Ronaldo" Briers will dive, whinge and kick his team to victory by plenty. Wire by 22.

BULLS v. FC

Sponge-bob Agar takes his little Clams to the Pot-Hole this week where they find the hosts almost shaken off their "pub team" tag.

Potters Wands are on a roll and gaining confidence every week and making some doubt their tips as making them also rans (not this tipster).

Without the great unwashed cyclops to lead them around the park the weight of direction falls to "Mcvities Horne and "Carling Westerman.

Expect the hosts to prove to be tougher than normal with the added confidence found in recent weeks but at the end of the day it's a still a team that contains Sibbit, Raynor and Herbert.

Close but still no cigar for hosts.
