rhinoms Superleague XVI Previews - Round 14
Posted by southstander on May 12 2011 - 07:10:52

by rhinoms

Round fourteen throws up one standout fixture, Giants v. Saints, and a whole host of other 'interesting' match-ups.

The Rhinos host the Dragons, who seem almost unbeatable on their travels and are unconquered in the last six, while the Wolves welcome the banjo players.

It should be another good weekend.

This week we hit the half way mark of the SL and the surprises keep on coming.

Here are my thoughts on this weeks fixture.

WOLVES v. TIGERS

The wagon train heads west this week with the Banjoes desperate to be plucked in victory after a slump in league form.

The Hosts are on a winning run and looking very much like the GF team they were tipped to be.

After a home humiliation to their big city rivals in front of the t.v cameras last time out the mercurial Chase and co will be hoping to improve and dosey doe to two vital points.

The home side are in form and on a roll and will have too much bite for the fiddles which will leave them squealing like pigs.

CRUSADERS v. WILDCATS

The plastic Taffs welcome JK's unfancied puddy Cats this week. The hosts are still bottom of the league although they will take confidence out of a gritty performance last week at HQ.

Surprisingly the Welsh will have both Hep "bites yer legs" Cahill AND "Elbowing sh#*house" Bryant available so maybe coach Harris has learned bleating to t.v cameras has influence on the clowns at Red Hall.

The visitors really are improving and enjoying proving the experts and pundits wrong and will have too much confidence and desire for the lackluster hosts.

RHINOS v. DRAGONS

It's back to HQ for SL business this week and we welcome the much improved Dragons.

After the depressing sight of Mcguire, Webb and Clarkson leaving the field injured last time out we have to re-group for a stern test against a strong (I don't just mean breath either!) French outfit.

The visitors have caused some serious upsets this season not least at the Pie-Dome and the Ikea Jones.

The hosts should have too much for this fired up Dragon outfit who themselves have quality in the treatment room in the shape of Greenshields and Dereau.

An entertaining game in prospect but the Rhinos are starting to build momentum and I expect that to continue.

REDS v. FC

The much improved Plankton outfit visit the Reds this week. The home side are still up and down form wise but still only one point behind their cods-ville visitors.

Sponge-bob Agar is enjoying an Indian summer and may well last beyond August at this rate but lets not get giddy and remember that his squad still contains the Tongan muppets, toap dodging Stig and the 309 yr old Fitzgibbon.

The home side will be looking to pick up their home form and give stand in coach Veivers the best chance of getting the job FT and I think the incentive to go above the visitors will prove enough to inspire the win.

The visitors will arrive confident but soon Clam up and get out mussled.

WARRIORS v. QUINS

The free falling Quins visit the Pie-Dome this week desperate to urn around their poor SL form.

The hosts will look to build on their current winning run and maintain their charge to a 2nd GF for departing coach Maguire.

The visitors are capable of an upset but their current form and lack of confidence will be their undoing as Rat-boy and co celebrate Skeletors new deal by hammering the oppositions White Line.

Another failed trip for the cockney rebels and their young and out of his depth coach.

GIANTS v. SAINTS

The game of the weekend at the Galpharm as two of the top three meet up.

The hosts will be looking to put an unexpected tough game against Batley behind them and hope to continue to build their SL credentials.

The Brooksiders arrive with more injuries but still they remain joint top and the plump strawberry blonde kid will be desperate to win then GF before he departs to NRL.

A real entertaining game in prospect with both teams confident and hoping to get a 2 pt lead on the other.

The home team will be tough but O'sitdown, fat Robbie Savage, Astra Thief and Mono-Brow won't have enough to beat the KFC, Blue Circle Wellens and the vastly over-rated super brat Eastmond.

KR v. BULLS

This week coach Potter takes his Pub team to the Red half of Cods-ville where the Robins will be determined to get back into winning form after their Willie Viagra farce.

The visitors will be missing the unfortunate Walker who to be fair is one of their very few reasonable players and their desperation is highlighted by re-signing "Plug" Jeffries from Wakey who didn't even pick him.

The hosts will be looking to show their Mussle and net a much needed win not least for coach Morgan who has been feeling the pressure after a poor 1st half of the year overall has left them 3rd bottom.

The Reds will be desperate to win and go above the Gratten pot-hole Dog 'n' Gun mob and then look to build and push for the top 8.

Another poor effort and defeat for the wand-less Potter and Co.
