rhinoms Superleague XVI Previews - Round 12
Posted by southstander on April 24 2011 - 18:15:58

by rhinoms

In this predictably unpredictable Superleague season who would have backed the Crusaders to beat the Giants or the Wildcats to get one over on our Country Cousins?

This predictions lark is getting more difficult by the week.

How badly wrong can we get it this round?

Read more here....

Now we've completed the "derby" part of the Easter weekend the shocks just keep coming and now we enter part two and round twelve of the SL season.

Her are my thoughts on the upcoming fixtures.

DRAGONS v. BULLS

The Hosts return home after winning the "expansion" derby and they have chance to add Potters Pub team to their list of scalps in front of the cameras.

The visitors will be physically and mentally drained after giving their all and coming away with nothing against the Rhinos last time out.

The news doesn't get any better for ditch residents as one of their very few quality players Kearney is out with a broken foot which may force recall for the struggling Briggs or jelly fish Sykes.

Coach Robinson really is building a useful and dangerous team with Dureau the chief architect and this will be another 2 pts to their tally.

Not enough left in the tank for Lynch and his also rans.

KR v. QUINS

The red half of cods-vile will be hoping to get a much-needed win after losing the Trawler War last time out.

The visitors are struggling to live up to their early season promise and will hope the farce and confusion surrounding the limp Willie saga will help their cause.

Coach Morgan may not be under as much pressure as some SL coaches but if they don't start making the headlines for their winning RL rather than pathetic and lifeless squad retention/signing he could be the next one out.

The unloved from down south will prove a test and after the hosts failed to show Mussle last time out expect Purdham and co to leave them Shell shocked and skate away with 2 pts.

WILDCATS v. WARRIORS

The hosts produced one of the performances of the good Friday matches when they left rock ridge with the spoils and mongo and co were left without a hoe down and their barns burned down.

This week they entertain the Pies who arrive on the back of their own energy sapping Derby win and looking to build up form and send coach Mcguire home with another trophy.

JK will have his team fired up no doubt about but their biggest problems are squad depth and when they've produced a stunning effort they've failed to back it up.

The visitors will have too much gravy and take the points leaving "rugby gods" Clarke burping his worm over Rat-boy and co.

WOLVES v. FC

The on fire hosts welcome Stig and co after very different results. Sponge-bob Agars lot got a hard fought Reef derby win whilst the hosts didn't need second gear when destroying the inconsistent Reds.

Too much energy will have been taken out of the Whelks from Humberside and they will tire quickly in the face of the onslaught from TS' wolf pack.

Another home win and the natives will be left talking up their GF credentials again despite the rest of SL knowing they've played 3 of the poorest teams in the league.

More misery and excuses from Agar as the bark and bite from Wire get louder and sharper.

RHINOS v. CRUSADERS

The Blue 'n' Amber return to HQ after a grinding if yet unspectacular win at the Gratten land fill.

This week we entertain Harris and his Giant killers after they left Astra thief and whining b#tch N. Brown stunned by a 32-6 loss.

The hosts really need to up the gears and performance levels to get the Rhinos "back in the chase" and they will be boosted by returning talisman Danny McGuire.

Whilst the Giants result will boost the visitors confidence it should also be a warning to Brian Mc's boys that if they don't perform the plastic Taffs will take the points.

A tougher than expected game but the Rhinos are more desperate and have that bit more quality to get the points.

SAINTS v. TIGERS

Two teams reeling from derby defeats after getting into winning leads. The Scouse squatters will be looking to put the Pie defeat behind them and renew their quest for a top 2 spot.

The wagon train enters town after a shock loss to their unfancied rivals the Puddy Cats.

This is a real test for both teams for the hosts they will be looking to prove their youngsters can handle life at the top of SL whilst the visitors will hoping to prove cotton eyed joe is not a "one hit wonder".

This promises to be a fiery and entertaining encounter but the Doggies bound Stawberry blonde will lead the hosts to a win which will leave the Wagon train on bricks and the banjoes string less.

GIANTS v. REDS

Another 2 teams desperate to turn around poor performances and results.

The hosts were out-played last time out in Wrexham after some eye catching wins whilst the coach-less Reds were destroyed without scoring at home.

The Astra Thief and pack of angels will have too much for an improved but very ragged Reds outfit.

Expect more talk from the home fans and Mono-Brow about how great they are after a comfortable win.
