Rhinos Sign Cross Prop
Posted by southstander on October 11 2010 - 08:53:07

New Prop
The Rhinos have started, and possibly ended, their close-season spending spree with the recruitment of thirty-one year old State of Origin prop forward Ben 'The Boss' Cross from Newcastle Knights.

The Rhinos have two big holes left in last seasons squad through the departure of Greg Eastwood and Scott Donald, although with Lee Smith arriving back from Rugby Union mid-season it could be that Cross is the only winter signing from Gary Hetherington.

Find out more here....

Cross has been signed on a two year deal and will bolster a Rhinos pack which was often left exposed amongst last seasons injury carnage. He'd recently signed a new one-year deal with the Newcastle Knights but after the approach from Leeds with a two-year offer he asked to be released and the board granted his request.

Born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales he has pulled on the shirts of Canberra and Melbourne before joining the Knights in 2008. With ninety-five first team appearances he's never crossed the whitewash, but we've not signed him for his try-scoring capabilities.

He has played twice for New South Wales in Origin games and was selected in the initial Australia squad for the 2008 World Cup but didn't make the travelling side.

He's six foot three and weight seventeen and a half stone and should be exactly what we are looking for to add bulk and brawn to our pack for 2011.

Welcome...'The Boss'.
