The business end of the season has finally arrived and here are my thoughts on the 1st round of the play-offs.|
SAINTS v. WOLVES
A real belter in prospect with the SL pretenders hoping to finally beat the hosts in a fixture and put a marker down.
The hosts will be very confident after pipping the visitors to 2nd spot on the SL table last time out.
The Wire have had a great year and have the luxury of having a fully fit squad and the CC already in the bag but this is their biggest challenge especially mentally and will be looking for the performance that lays a lot of demons to rest.
The hosts are boosted by the return of marquee signing Soliola but are without Pryce and have lingering doubts over cocksure Eastmond but they will be confident on their own patch against a team they hold the voodoo sign over.
A tough encounter but I don't think the Wire have the mental fortitude just yet to win in Brookside.

GIANTS v. CRUSADERS
The "weakest" fixture of the round in my opinion.
The hosts will be desperate to avoid a repeat showing of last years poor play-off showing and are in decent enough shape form and personnel wise to avoid an upset.
The visitors have defied the critics all season and have the right to be very proud of their efforts but they are the weakest link of all the last 8.
A think the visitors will show heart and desire and the usual bloody mindness they've had all year but the Giants will have too much quality at home.

FC v. KR
The biggest derby in recent history for the Fish fingered rivals this week.
The hosts will hope to bounce back after losing out on 4th spot last time out and Radford will be determined he's not as thick as his efforts last week suggested he is.
Morgan's Mullets arrive in pretty decent form and have confidence to get the job done and leave Cyclops and his "windy" pack feeling like an empty trawl.
This promises to have plenty of fireworks and shells flying and despite the "home" advantage the hosts are gone for the year.

WARRIORS v. RHINOS
It's mission impossible at the pie-dome this week for the champs.
That's the "experts" and many fans views anyway and on paper we do have the hardest assignment this weekend.
We responded last week after a shambolic effort in the capitol and whilst there were plenty of errors we showed enough mental steel at least to get the job done.
The reigning champs will be looking to lay a marker down at the table toppers and remind everyone that this time of the season is "what we do" and it's a real test for Maguire's wannabes.
A huge task isn't made easier with the forced absence of our pack "machine".
Peacock so it's time again for TMFMISL to step up with Kylie "concrete"
Leuleui and take the game to "night night" Fielden and his crusty team-mates.
I'm going for a hard fought Rhinos win and a reminder to the rest and the Sky Muppets why we are 3-in-row Champs.
