One 'Ull of a Final Game
Posted by southstander on September 03 2010 - 09:16:15

Fourth or Sixth?
I still feel as flat as a pancake, so how must the seventeen who will run out in tomorrows crucial final league match at the KC tomorrow afternoon be feeling?

A win or draw tomorrow will see us finish in fourth spot with an 'easier' route to the Grand Final, a loss would almost certainly see us finish sixth with a titanic struggle ahead to make it four consecutive championships.

We preview the game here...

The Rhinos have added yet another two players to their injury list in this the season of injuries. The latest absentees are Jones-Buchanan and Clarkson who both picked up knocks at Wembley and join Peacock and Burgess in the stands. Kallum Watkins is still not fit enough to be back in the line up.

This could go either one way or the other. The guys could be so downhearted after saturday that they cannot get motivated, or they could be so determined to make it to Old Trafford that they pull out all the stops.

Bluey has drafted in Donald, Lauiti'iti, Ambler and McShane in addition to saturdays seventeen in a nineteen that comprises; Webb, Donald, Delaney, Senior, Hall, McGuire, Burrow, Leuluai, Buderus, Lauiti'iti, Sinfield, Diskin, Eastwood, Bailey, Kirke, Ablett, Ambler, McShane, and Smith.

FC aren't going to give us this one on a plate. They want fourth as much as we do and a home win in a turbulent season for them will see them pinch it.

Sean Long is back in contention after an extensive injury lay-off, although whether he'll make the seventeen still has to be seen.

Ex-Rhino Jordan Tansey is still suspended for a spear tackle a couple of weeks ago but nevertheless it is a strong side that Agar has named for his sides most crucial game of the season so far.

His nineteen are; Berrigan, T. Briscoe, Cusack, Dowes, Fitzgibbon, Hall, Horne, Houghton, Lauaki, Long, Lyne, Manu, Moa, O'Meley, Radford, Tickle, Turner, Washbrook, and Yeaman.

Three Airlie Birds to watch;

Manu

Long

We've already played FC twice this season, on consecutive weekends, once in the league and once in the cup. On the 11th April we won in the league at Headingley by 46-30 and a week later, in our last visit to the KC, by 48-24.

We haven't lost at the KC since May 2007 when we went down by 12-16.

We're slightly weaker and they are slightly stronger than in the other two games this season, it could be close.

Despite my Challenge Cup depression I still think we'll win this one and make fourth. Our boys are professionals and will be even more keen to make it back to Old Trafford, you never know, we might get another bite at the Wolves.

The forecast for tomorrow isn't at all bad with temperatures touching twenty and only a 20% chance of rain. Looks like we'll not be able to blame a loss on the conditions.

The Predicitions Prize Money thread is here, place your predictions.

Drive safe and enjoy the game.
