I looked down at the floor, plastic beer bottles scattered around my seats. I turned around and looked at the rest of the stand, down & sunburnt faces telling the same story, had we thrown it away? Just over 40 minutes later the lower tier of this stand was bouncing and celebrating the fact we had beaten our arch rivals (In my eyes they are) and had just booked a trip to Wembley, this felt like dreamland!
A few weeks later, I feel in dreamland. The last time I went to Wembley I was about two on a tour of the old stadium before going to a gig in the Wembley Arena that night. In 1999 I couldn't afford to go, watching on TV felt horrible as I wanted to be there and celebrate Leroy Rivett being the best player ever.... How that quickly changed! The 2003 final felt wrong and odd. A long train journey on the morning meant the game to me took forever and we was robbed (yes Mick Gledhill). As for 2005, Leeds Festival called...
This years final in my opinion has the halmarks of being a potential classic, two teams in great form with two sets of outstanding fans supporting them. In a wierd way I feel as though im making up for 99 as Im excited to be at Wembley, yes its not the same venue but there is something magical about that place.
I'll be around somewhere before hand and sat on the top tier near one of the screens, im sure you know what I look like, if you do see me come say hello!
