rhinoms Superleague V Previews - Round 25
Posted by southstander on August 12 2010 - 07:55:28

Wembley appearance tucked away nicely in our pocket to savour at a later date and thoughts turn back to the Rhinos securing a top four finish is Superleague and booking an 'easier' route to Old Trafford than finishing fifth would merit.

Plenty of interesting games this weekend, especially our visit to our country cousins.

The home strait is in sight now as we enter the final few weeks of SL rounds.

Here are my thoughts on the upcoming fixtures.

TIGERS v. RHINOS

It's the "Big One" for the dualling banjoes as they welcome their big city neighbors to town.

A tough game in prospect for the visitors who are coming off that 80 minute energy sapping try fest semi final. The hosts, however, will be fresh after the week off and will always give that bit extra in their "cup final".

Luckily the Rhinos won't be wearing the "Pink strip" or warming up to "Y.M.C.A" although I still expect a "frosty" reception from the locals after we had the audacity to call a Saints player "Ginger".

A game the Rhinos should/must win if they are serious about 4th spot and I expect them to be too sharp and focused for the axe men of wrong turns-ville.

FC v. CRUSADERS

The Welsh are this weeks visitors to Cods-ville.

Both teams are playing for places within the top eight and should make for a decent contest.

Nobby has got his unloved playing consistently and they look a threat, whilst at the same time the fish fingered hosts are making a real battle for 4th.

I expect a close hard fought contest but I think sponge-bobs cast have too much at home for the Welsh outfit.

SAINTS v. BULLS

Unfortunately for the Odslum faithful they have to visit the " Brookside set" this week after the hosts lost a big game the week before.

The plump strawberry blonde kid and his chums will be fired up and be looking to get 2nd spot so will rip into the visitors.

The Bulls are in for a long night especially with the resistance and defensive structure of a soggy kit-kat and a squad that resembles the "Dog 'n' Gun" rather than a SL outfit.

The Red V will have far too much for the pathetic visitors and steal to the points with ease.

DRAGONS v. QUINS

The most pointless fixture of the season as the Leagues underachievers meet in southern france.

It's a case of who has the most pride to play for and after a good hiding for the hosts in the cup, stick a fork in them because they are done!

Brian Mc will be looking for positives to take into the off season and hoping for a decent effort to build on for next year.

REDS v. KR

A tricky away game for the Robins they going well and are in with a chance for 5th.

The hosts have showed this year at times they can beat the better teams in SL when they get it right, however, they haven't got it right often enough.

The Robins have to win this game to maintain their confidence and charge to the play-offs but with nothing other than pride to play for the Reds will be a threat.

I expect the extra intensity from the Robins to be just too much for McRaes' mob.

WILDCATS v. WOLVES

The hosts really are a "shot" team with very little confidence and enthusiasm.

The visitors will arrive in good spirits after their destruction of a pathetic French outfit last week and I expect them to be ruthless.

A wolf will always maul a Puddy Cat especially one as mange ridden as twitchy Kears.

WARRIORS v. GIANTS

For the first time in years the Pie-dome could/should witness a trophy presentation to the hosts as they look to wrap up the Hub-Cap.

The visitors arrive with an intent to spoil the party and maintain their faint hopes of 4th.and they won't take the game lightly.

We could have a humdinger in prospect if the Giants play their part and I expect a tough uncompromising battle.

A good effort from Browns mob but it's the hosts night and they'll prevail.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the games.

For those going to Cas remember not to swear, mince, or mention fines/ground share to the home crowd!
