The Damo Bit - 24th June 2010
Posted by southstander on June 24 2010 - 15:35:15

Despite not making it to the game on Sunday, Damo still has plenty to say.

He got his rugby fix via the radio, and jolly pleased he was with it too.

Sunday Was Great

I remember listening to the radio many times and been frustrated at the quality of the presenting. Basically listening to rugby league on the radio was pretty pointless because youíd have two match commentaries in one taking turns. Itís gets very annoying when the match you want to listen has to temporarily make way for some match you donít really care about.

However this didnít happen with Sundays match between Leeds and the Crusaders that was broadcast by Yorkshire radio. Even better the commentators didnít even bother giving the listeners the score updates of the other super league games of which has been another annoyance of tuning in to listen to the Rhinos on the radio. After all if I wanted score updates Iíd just spend a couple of hours on sky sports score Centre refreshing the Superleague bit.

To me the score updates and anything to do with numbers isnít the side of rugby league I want to know. Itís a lot more fun to just watch and enjoy a game rather than become too focused on points and league tables. I enjoy to watch or hear about Danny McGuire putting in a darting run than Danny Mcguire has amassed four points for the Rhinos.

Finally Iíd just like to thank for the Yorkshire Radio commentary team for putting together a perfect afternoon for me and others. The uninterrupted commentary is what I want to see more of in rugby league because quite frankly last year I was on the verge of never listening to radio commentary again.

Keep it up.
