Where Will You Watch England?
Posted by southstander on June 01 2010 - 07:50:58

Have you decided where you'll be watching Englands World Cup campaign?

In a joint venture Headingley will be opening its gates and hosting a fan park for all of Englands World Cup group matches with the game being relayed via the largest permanent big screen at any sports venue in the country.

More details here....

Headingley Carnegie Stadium has been at the heart of many English sporting success stories over the last 120 years and patriotic fans will be hoping that the latest chapter will be written here this summer.

The stadium will host a fan park for all of England's World Cup group matches, with the action beamed live from South Africa so that fans can watch Fabio Capello's team as they go for World Cup glory. The action will be shown live on Yorkshire CCC's giant replay screen (1), which is the biggest screen in the country, with fans able to sit on the cricket outfield and enjoy all the action.

The event will be free of charge* to enter, with spectators able to relax on the grass. Food and drink will also be available for members of the public to purchase at the ground.

England's first match in the World Cup is against the USA on Saturday 12th June, then they take on Algeria on Friday 18th June before they complete the group stage against Slovenia on Wednesday 23rd June.

Commenting on the World Cup Party, Yorkshire CCC Sales and Marketing Director Richard Kaye said, "With England having just won the ICC World Twenty20 Cup I can't imagine a more fitting venue than the world famous Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground for everyone to come along and watch our footballers try and follow suit in June and July. As we get closer to the World Cup clearly everyone is going to get more excited about our chances so we look forward to welcoming the public, and especially families, to come along and enjoy the games here at the ground."

Rob Oates commercial Director of Leeds Rugby said "This is another great joint initiative between Yorkshire CCC and Leeds Rugby. We want to make Headingley Carnegie THE venue to watch the world cup this summer."

* Free entry up to one hour before kick-off and thereafter a nominal 2 wil be charged.
