rhinoms Superleague XV Preview - Round 13
Posted by southstander on April 29 2010 - 08:05:34

by rhinoms

Murrayfield magic is upon us as we hurtle towards the half-way point in Superleague XV.

With shock results in every round our predictors are having a massive problem getting any consistency, a bit like the Rhinos! But game as ever, they are back with another punt.

Well we start a new month with the SL road show at Murryfield for the "Magic" weekend.

Here are my thoughts on the upcoming fixtures.

Agars battered squad got back to winning ways last week in a grind fest against Kears mange riddled puddy cats.

This week they face a rejuvenated Quinns outfit who travel on the back of a magnificent win at the pie-dome.

With their few quality players returning and a turn round in fortune (apart from the horrific injury sustained by Bjb) McDermotts rainbow brights will be oozing confidence and looking for another brill win.

The airlie birds will be looking to build on whitings efforts last week but still will be left without enough bait to get the 2 points in my opinion.

Well, what can I say other than McBanana and the Odslum faithful are on a roll.

After another win against the Robins which the likes of Whitehead and Donaldson underlined their SL credentials things are looking up for Age concern Menzies and his Manly crew.

However Nobbys plastic taffs will have to improve to get anywhere near a win and I think it will prove to be too big a task this week.

After another defeat the Jekyll and Hyde Reds face an in form Wire team who are going from win to win at the top of the league.

For McRae and his inconsistent new boys it's a challenge way too hard for them to overcome in my opinion and the best they can hope for is a Ref who has the nuts to bin the likes of Morley and Co if they transgress.

Even with divine intervention it's a Wire win all the way and more "year of the Wolf" statements to be flying around the Sky box at least until their beloved Pies and Saints are on!

After a very disappointing showing at KR last week Bluey must lift the troops spirits in the 1st of our "put the record straight" fixtures. Poor discipline, ball retention and all round mind set really did us no favors last week so I expect the "backlash" to begin against John Kears puddy cats.

What's happened to Wakey?

Well it certainly looks like they got the raw deal in the "problem child" merry-go-round and they are struggling for any cohesion. Their go forward has been reduced massively since Tronc realised what he'd done when signing and without actually seeing the place.

This week I expect a cup like performance from our Blue 'n' Amber champions.

This has the potential to be the game of the weekend in my view. The invincibles at the pie-dome have had their bubble burst last week and the Giants are looking to build round their new general "Kenny rogers".

Two tough uncompromising packs but I think the galpharm boys shade it just. Some good match ups this week especially in the respective packs and a word of warning to Stuart"and sleep" Fielden don't cock thoses guns unless yer ready to fire because messrs Mason and Griffin love a tear up.

The Shell suited heroes of KR go into this one back of whats been described as Potters greatest "trick!" after a dominating win against the hapless champs.

Although they are blighted by injury they have shown to have enough quality and desire to get the job done in the SL.

This week the "found out" Robins are the opposition and they have a reasonable record against their foes this week but they are doing it tough at the moment and are getting beat quite regularly.

A cruise for the Scousers this week.

Well after a week of protests, rumours of squad unrest and a poor exit from the cup the wrong turn faithful were cheered by a rare home win.

The "cotton eye joe" CD was back in favour and high 6's were the order of the day and the talk was of an onward and upward nature amongst the yokels. For Walters and his "les enfants" they are going from 1 defeat to another and they show no signs of stopping the rot.

This could be a make or break fixture for Walters to retain his job but I can't see his fireless team responding.
