David Bywaters Player Appraisal - KR Home
Posted by southstander on March 20 2010 - 15:04:21

Davids MoM
by David Bywater

After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.

Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

Here are David’s thoughts about Friday’s game against Hull KR at Headingley, ;

1Webb8My MOM – one of the few senior players to play anything like his true ability – always looked dangerous when returning the ball and marshaled the defense really well– especially in the second half
2Coady6Very creditable debut – no obvious errors and ran strongly ball in hand – hampered by his centre who was far from top form
3Delaney7Just seeing the game out if rumours of his fitness are true – limited impact especially in the second half – but he supported Coady well.
4Senior6Just not his night, bombed two good chances, was completely bambuzzled for the Fox try and tipped the ball back for the Dobson intercept.
5Clarkson7The best of the debutants – looked a bit at sea to begin with but when he settled down he looked pretty comfortable – would not hesitate to give him another chance
6McGuire8One mistake – a dropped ball from the scrum – Danny had a very solid game – created two golden opportunities that should have won the game – this all the more creditable given the injury from the previous week
7Burrow7The effort to stop Dobson on the intercept typified the effort Rob put in tonight – unfortunately his kicking game really let him down – just one of those nights
8Leuluai6In a word – lethargic – when he needed to step up he went missing
9Diskin6Is there a slower 9 in SL – his lack of physical and mental speed was exposed when McShane entered the fray – something needs to change here and quick
10Peacock8Back to propping and a typical 100% game from Jamie – pity he bombed the chance from McGuire but the best of the forwards by a distance – hobbled off at the end , hopefully nothing serious
11Kirke5Was he on the field? Little/no contribution in the game whatsoever
12Pitts7Pity he had to leave the field with what looked like a poke in the eye – after Peacock the best forward on the field added a bit of class to the side
13Jones Buchanan6Great knock down for the try, unfortunately things just got worse, incapable of catching the ball for the most part – not Jamies’ finest hour
14Lauiti’iti6Not much offloading today, in fact not a lot of anything – how he let Vella score defies belief – things must surely improve as the season progresses
15McShane7Would have got a higher score had he played a little longer. Showed just how slow Diskin is. His crispness and accuracy of passing also beg the question – why is he not getting more game time?
16Burgess6One of the few forwards to make ground ball in hand – sadly Luke’s game was also littered with poor decisions, dropped ball and missed tackles
17Amor5Completely overawed by the occasion especially in his first stint when he struggled to catch a ball or make an effective tackle. Much improved second stint though – welcome to SL
