The Damo Bit - 4th March 2010
Posted by southstander on March 04 2010 - 10:35:26

Like the rest of us, Damo is gutted about the Rhinos loss in the World Club Challenge, however, he realises that Leeds Rugby is about a lot more than what happends on the field.

This week Damo looks behind the scenes and applauds the 'Leeds Rugby Foundation'.

A congratulatory Damo is here...

Rhinos We Love You

Despite the narrow lost against Melbourne we all still love the Rhinos.

To me, my love for the Rhinos is the fact that they represent accessible top flight rugby league in our great city. It makes me proud that I donít have to travel far to watch a Superleague game every month unlike some unfortunate people who live far away from the M62 corridor.

Rhinos have produced some fantastic role modals over the years including mine, Keith Senior. Keith represents everything I want to be in life. Someone who can stay at the top for so long, and do it with class. Class like the many games he has vitally won for Leeds.

However most of all I like the fact that Rhinos provide a space in the city for youngsters to develop into something great. Whilst the most obvious benefit is that theyíve given the most talented rugby playing youngsters of the city a big chance to develop into a top flight rugby players, we must not forgot the fantastic work they do for the community.

Iím talking about the Leeds Rugby Foundation that has inspired the young of our city to be better citizens. It's based within the grounds of the stadium, beside the western terrace. My cousin has benefitted from this facility and has come out a better person as have so many who are rewarded at rewards nights. The highlight of that night I went to was hearing that if it wasnít for the Rhinos guiding this person on the right path she would of never of got into Oxford.

That is why I love you Rhinos.

World class on and off the pitch.
