SS.Com Player of the Season
Posted by southstander on October 23 2009 - 13:22:27

With the regular season ended, your votes have been counted and we can now name the ninth SouthStander.com Player of the Season.

Previous winners of this prestigious award have been Robbie Mears (2001), Matt Diskin (2002), Matt Adamson (2003), Danny McGuire (2004), Kevin Sinfield (2005), Rob Burrow (in 2006 and 2007), and Jamie Peacock (2008).

The final standings are here for 2009.

Each week we awarded points based on their standing in the man of the match poll. First gets ten points, second gets eight, third gets six, fourth gets four, fifth gets three, sixth gets two and seventh gets one.

Points are added over the season and the total can be seen in the table below.

It will come as little surprise to see that Kevin Sinfield picks up the SouthStander.com award for the second time, his previous accolade being in 2005. While Jamie Peacock came second this season special mention should be given to Danny Buderus who would surely have finished top of the pile if he had not missed many games through injury.

Many congratulations to Kevin, who gets his just reward for a great season. A career Rhino and a player who I have had the privilege to watch for his entire career to date.
