Aren't We Brilliant?

Aren't We Brilliant?
With over 10,000 season tickets already sold, and still over a month to go until the first home game of the season, Leeds Rhinos supporters have once again proved that they are record breakers.

This is understood to be the largest quantity of season tickets sold by any rugby league club, and re-inforces the Rhinos as the best supported club side in the game. The fantastic £78 saving for an adult ground season ticket (over 14 x £15 entrance entries) has meant that Leeds fans have laid seige to the ticket office in recent weeks.

This builds on last years phenomenal attendance successes.

The 2004 season was a special one for all Rhinos supporters. The only real disappointment was a cup exit at the hands of Saints, but that was soon forgotten as we stayed at the top of Superleague from Round 1 to Round 28, eventually winning the league by 9 clear points and lifting the Superleague trophy.

The Rhinos average attendance last year was an amazing 16,608, and increase of 3,465 on the 2003 season. In total 232,512 watched the Rhinos fourteen home Superleague matches, with the lowest gate being 11,701 against Huddersfield Giants in April. Three capacity crowds (all against Bradford) bolstered figures.

Leeds figured in eight of the top ten attended games in 2004, and in all of the top six (five of which were against Bradford). The only top ten game in the normal rounds which did not involve Leeds, was the season opener between Bradford and Wigan.

The game did well too, with the average gate up by 645 to 8,833. Bradford were the biggest losers, as their lack of success saw their average drop by 1,759. Hull, Saints, Castleford, Widnes and Huddersfield also saw disappointing drops, but only in the hundreds. Warrington Wolves were the second biggest winners adding over 25% to their average home gate and taking it up to just under 10,000.

We can all be proud of ourselves in 2004, and I hope that the same can be said in 2005. One thing is for sure, Leeds will continue to be the best supported side in 2005, and hopefully we can beat out own record. Mr Caddick must wonder what he needs to do to get the Tykes average crowds up to even 20% of the level of the Rhinos. Leeds people love their rugby....league style!
