SS.Com 2008 Player of the Season Named
Posted by southstander on September 29 2008 - 09:40:53

With the regular season ended, your votes have been counted and we can now name the eighth SouthStander.com Player of the Season.

Previous winners of this prestigious award have been Robbie Mears (2001), Matt Diskin (2002), Matt Adamson (2003), Danny McGuire (2004), Kevin Sinfield (2005) and Rob Burrow (in 2006 and 2007).

The final standings are here for 2008.

Each week we awarded points based on their standing in the man of the match poll. First gets ten points, second gets eight, third gets six, fourth gets four, fifth gets three, sixth gets two and seventh gets one.

Points are added over the season and the total can be seen in the table below.

It will come as little surprise to see that Jamie Peacock is this seasons runaway winner of the trophy with very few points difference covering the following pack of Donald, Sinfield, Webb, McGuire and Diskin.
