Loiner4Life's SLXIII Round 25 Preview

Not L4L!
by Loiner4life

Not much time to go now and it looks like Oldham Rhino will be the runaway winner of our little weekly squabble. looks a way off the pace and unlikely to challenge for the play-offs and as for myself it is almost impossible that I will catch either of them up.

Nonetheless, it's time to put our necks on the line once again!

Here are my thoughts on this weekend's action in Super League XIII Round 25.

Last Home game of the regular season for the Rhinos coming in on the back of a hard fought win, heading into the play-offs you need to be going in confident and a nice win margin will boost the confidence ahead of next weeks tricky trip to Wigan. Castleford came up with the goods last week, and did the Bulls a favour, so for that I hope they do get a tonking. Leeds could welcome Man of Steele 07 back this week so we may look a little more stable down the right just in time for these crucial games. With Hull in free-fall ahead of the Challenge cup Castleford have a bit of hope of not finishing bottom but away to Leeds I think will be too much. Leeds 18

Wakefield with seven losses on the bounce better be ready to taste there eighth on Friday as they are a team very low on confidence. Danny Brough hasnít managed to keep the superb form that he showed at the beginning of the season. Wigan came back with a point from France last week which isnít a bad result, and they too are picking up a bit of form coming into the business end of the season. Noble knows all and how important these last few games are as he mastered in 2005. I think Wigan with Home advantage, stars like Trent etc and the fact Wakefield are so low in confidence that Wigan are hot favourites here so wigan win by 28

Free to get in and coming off the back of the announcement Darren Lockyer is signing will create a huge buzz around the Galpharm, Leeds fans were celebrating only 3 weeks ago there after coming back and finding all the hubcaps and stereoís still in the cars after 8,000 Saints fans weíre present, but the buzz the Huddersfield fans will be feeling will be great, all 750 of them will be hoping it will rub off onto the team. After beating Hull last week and poor form from the teams above them I think they really fancy there chances of making the top six, 3 points behind with 6 to play for itís game on!. Catalans could only manage a draw so I think 3rd place is about all they can manage this year especially as Leeds have Castleford and the Wildcats remaining and I think theyíll be looking ahead to knock out rugby. Won 10 Lost 13 and getting into the top 6 is supposed to and Achievement - what a Joke the play off system really is, how you can achieve something when losing more then you win is beyond me. Will Hull be up for this? Probably not itís a matter of next week and then thinking about next season for Hull so I expect Bradford to win comfortably even though they have a few players injured and missing Platt through suspension they still have quality players on show for the 8,000 fans on show. Not had chance to see the Saints team itís on of them where if they play there kids it could be a Home win, if they play full strength the players will have 1 eye on next week and wont be wanting to risk anything and get injured i just donít know what will happen here Harlequins still have a chance of making the top 6 but they will need the 2 points here, news of McLinden heading home to the NRL (another SL reject going home to prop up some NRL side) will be a blow to the side and itís not the best news you want to hear coming into a game this big. Iím going to back the quins here just because I think Saints will rest a few players or wont be 100% up for the game. Quins by 4

I almost felt sorry for Warrington last week but the little bit of sorry went down the bog along with Fridays Chicken Curry. To be fair though they did have lots of injuries and put up a good fight but didnít have that killer edge to finish the Saints off. Hull by all accounts had a bad performance last week against the Quins which as led to the recall of Paul Cooke, here is his chance to re-build his career and I think heíll have a massive game if he doesnít turn up George Best style. Hull have admitted they have nothing to play for and just want a good performance an Warrington will be hoping to get a bit of form heading into the play offs. I think with home advantage and quality on offer that Wire will have too much. Wire by 26
