Lawries SLXIII Round XIX Preview
Posted by southstander on June 26 2008 - 09:52:09

Not L4L or Lawrie!
by Lawrie

With L4L sunning himself at his waterfront villa in the Maldives, well away from internet connectivity, the honour of the weekly preview falls to Lawrie.

As ever, myself and Oldham Rhino have thrown our two penn'orth into the mix, and between the three of us you'll probably end up as confused as a hungry baby in a topless bar!

Read more here....

Here are Lawries thoughts on this weekend's action in Super League XIII Round 19.

FRANCE v. ENGLAND

A real tough game here I think in which I think England could be given a fair few shocks or two by the big French pack and with Thomas Bosc making a claim for Man of Steel with superb individual performances the French will be a Force, however with Tony 'The God' Smith including some new talent in Westerman, Fox and Westwood it will be interesting to see how this England side work together with established faces in the squad. A tough game I think- England by 12.

WIGAN v 'QUINS

With Wigan surprisingly drawing away at our country bumpkin cousins over the weekend they will be looking at getting there stop start season firing again however the cockneys will also be looking at getting there topsy turvy season back on track. With these two teams benefiting from only one call up (Rinaldi from the Quins) we should see a good contest however the result could go either way in my opinion but can see Wigan winning this. Wigan by 14.

RHINOS v. TIGERS

Well what can we say about this one, well Cas have to be rubbing there dirty mud ridden hands in utter glee at the prospects of this tie. Us missing someone of our best talent and lots of youngsters being drafted in means the bumpkins have a chance of another two sacred points. Well I am not entirely sure of this as they are missing their 'messiah' (and very greedy) prospect Westerman who does create a lot for Classy Cas. However I must admit to having more nerves about this game then the Saints fixture. Lets hope the kids keep their heads and don't panic if things go wrong...however I still have my doubts and they are big. Castleford by 8.

BULLS v. KR

A fixture which on paper could be a cracker or be more boring then a night out with Schoey. Bulls are missing 'Leeds' Sam Burgess who is in the south of France and HKR have Fox on International duty too. With Iestyn only getting 4 out of 7 against the Robins bitter city rivals on Sunday they will need a better kicking display from the Welsh dynamo as a Robins side which is having varying levels of form recently could easily spring a surprise at the 'The only ground to have its own Eco Climate in Super League'. Bulls by 12.

FC v. WOLVES

A fixture which after thinking long and hard about I am struggling to think of the possibles that could come out of this game. Will Briers dummy end up in the Humber? Lowes show any emotion on his face at all and will any noise generate from the KFC at all? With Warrington potentially missing Gleeson, Morley and Westwood these could be big blows for the mighty wire. FC by 16.

SAINTS v. GIANTS

St Helens vs Huddersfield Well yes the Mighty V are missing a few stars due to call ups they however should easily win this against a Giants squad who have had more downs then an American Football side in recent weeks, I think the result against the Quins on Sunday will have improved confidence but that will be blown out of the water this weekend. St Helens by 22.
