Rhinos Learn to Lose
Posted by southstander

 Hard Work |
It was a bad day at the office for the Rhinos on friday. Our country cousins paid us a visit and gave us a reminder of what it is like to lose for the first time in nine games, and since the end of July 2009.
There was no arguing with the final result as the Tigers went home with the two points.
The photographers from rlphotos.com were at HQ and sent us these photos.

 Davids MoM |
by David Bywater
After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.
Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

 Try and Injury |
I am going to star by doing something that our nations banking system has been reticent to do over the last eighteen months, give credit where credit's due.
The Tigers arrived at Headingley as firm underdogs with the only question being how many we would beat them by, and they left as the first team to topple the Champions having beaten us fair and square at our own game.
No complaints, no gnashing of teeth, we were beaten by the better side on the night.

 Cousins Visiting |
Last weeks snow covered opener saw us get the jump on the rest of Superleague and start the first round proper in the same league position as we ended last season.
Now the rest of the league join in and we welcome our country cousins for Round One and their first game of the season.
This should be a formality for the Rhinos, but will the Tigers have a bit of early season bite?

Tad Rhinos Superleague XV Preview - Round 1

 Not Tads Avatar |
by TadRhino
Last week we had a bet on our average predictions, Leeds to beat a -24 handicap and Wakefield to eclipse a +2. We were bang on and our £1 returned £2.82, not the biggest of starts to our prize pot, but nonetheless a start.
This week Tad casts his eye over the full opening weekends fixtures and our accumulator bet would net us £67.87 if it comes in (see slip at the bottom of the page). That then goes into the pot for our winning predictor sponsor in Frosties competition.
There are just 34 shares left to take part for this prize - so get yours now.

After easing his way into his brand new SouthStander.com column over the first couple of weeks, in his usual 'out of the box' way this week Damo spotlights floodlights.
Once again this one is right out of the left-field, an interesting and revealing glimpse into the mind of the one and only DAMO!

 14 Points |
The Rhinos travelled to Wales for the season opener against the Crusaders and found a snow covered pitch and full house.
Despite trailing early on, and being all square at half-time, twenty-eight points in the last sixteen minutes saw us secure the points and start the year where we left the last.
The photographers from rlphotos.com were at the Racecourse Ground and sent us these photos.

 Great Debut |
A sell out crowd of 10,334 welcomed Superleague to Wrexham, the new home of last seasons basement side the newly truncated Crusaders.
SKY were there to start their 2010 coverage as Brian Noble plotted to undo the Rhinos in his first competitive game in charge. Leeds welcomed Eastwood and Delaney to the squad, but Noble had eight new signings pulling on Crusaders shirts.

Good to be Back!

 Here We Go! |
Superleague is Back!
The Rhinos get Superleague XV underway with a visit to the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham to take on the relocated and name-shortened Crusaders.
The World Club Challenge has forced the Rhinos into their defence a week early and SKY would have been hoping for a more mouthwatering fixture than this with which to kick off their seasons coverage. It should be a Rhinos walkover but with a new coach, ground and squad for the Crusaders, you never know.
We preview the game here...
