Carl made his first team debut for the Rhinos in the 36-36 draw against London Broncos at Griffin Park in July 2004. He has made a steady rise up through the Academy ranks. Despite not appearing in the first team in 2005, Carl made 6 appearances in 2006 before a cruciate ligament injury ended his season and the subsequent knee reconstruction operation that followed.
After rehabilitation, Carl made a try scoring return in the first Senior Academy game of 2007 against Huddersfield Giants before getting his first team opportunity and going on to make 13 appearances, all off the interchange bench, including the 33-6 victory in the engage Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.
It has been revealed that Ablett has played through the pain barrier to get to the end of the season and since the end of the season has had more surgery to correct a shoulder problem.
It is also reported in the press that Carl turned down offers from other clubs to re-sign with the Rhinos for next year.
This now means that all the squad from last season will now be returning to Headingley for engage Super League XIII, which begins for the Rhinos on the first weekend of February.
